Recreation Director

to lead and grow our year?round recreation programs. This position plays a key role in strengthening community engagement, supporting youth and adult activities, and ensuring high?quality recreational opportunities for all residents. The Recreation Director works under the direction of the Recreation Board, with oversight from the Mayor and City Council, and serves in an at?will capacity. Position Overview

The Recreation Director is responsible for planning, developing, scheduling, and implementing a comprehensive recreation program for the City of Haven. This includes supervising staff, managing budgets, maintaining facilities, and collaborating with community partners to deliver inclusive, accessible programming. Key Responsibilities

Lead year?round recreation programming for all ages Communicate effectively with the public, staff, and partner organizations Collaborate with USD 312, community groups, and the Recreation Board Ensure participant safety and adherence to safety procedures Manage the annual budget with direction from the Recreation Board and City Council Hire, supervise, and support seasonal and contracted staff Oversee field maintenance and recreation equipment Prepare and present quarterly reports to the City Council Perform administrative and hands?on tasks as needed Ensure programs are inclusive and accessible to all community members Maintain confidentiality of employees and participants Qualifications

Knowledge of recreation programming, community needs, and facility management Understanding of maintenance practices for public buildings and park facilities Strong organizational, supervisory, and communication skills Ability to plan and implement comprehensive recreation programs Ability to build positive working relationships with staff, partner agencies, and the public Skill in operating standard office and recreation equipment Education & Experience: Any equivalent combination of education and experience approved by the City Council. Additional Requirements: Residency within USD 312 school district Driving record acceptable to the City’s insurance carrier Physical & Environmental Expectations

This position involves both office and outdoor work.
