Your impact As Tampa International Airport expands to meet growing passenger demand, we’re seeking a Director of Construction to join Jacobs – a global leader in program management and airport design. Jacobs has proudly been ranked #1 in the world for Program Management by ENR for four consecutive years, and we’ve been at the forefront of airport design and construction for decades. Since 2014, we’ve partnered with Tampa International Airport to deliver world-class program/construction management services for a large variety of capital projects. During the next three years, our team will be supporting the management of a new terminal concourse that will expand the Airport’s capacity by approximately 20%.

Senior HCAA representative responsible for managing the construction and commissioning of assigned Master Plan and CIP capital projects.

Assigns and manages HCAA project management teams. Aligns resources with project needs.

Oversees the consulting teams contracted by HCAA to provide various services including project management, construction inspection, safety oversight, scheduling, cost management, contract administration, and quality assurance for assigned projects.

For design-build contracts, takes the lead on negotiating scopes of work, commercial terms, and guaranteed maximum prices.

Participates in meetings with HCAA, contractor, stakeholder, and consultant representatives to evaluate alternatives for solving problems.

Oversees the approval process for change orders.

Works with HCAA project management teams and consultants to track progress schedules and costs. Participates in owner/architect/contractor (OAC) progress meetings as necessary and takes a key role in major decisions.

Presents construction progress, schedule, cost, quality, and safety updates to senior HCAA leadership.

Participates in analyzing project risks, constructability reviews, and claims management activities.

Closely coordinates project construction and commissioning activities with other HCAA department officials and external stakeholder representatives.

Tracks the implementation of construction phasing plans and monitors the impacts of construction on airport operations.

Monitors construction activities for compliance with HCAA policies and regulatory requirements.

Oversees the hiring and development of HCAA staff. Also, participates in the interviews of consultant hires.

Reports directly to the HCAA Vice President – Planning and Development.

Responsibilities

At least 15 years of experience as a project manager or construction manager on capital projects. Experience must include responsibility for managing schedules, project costs, change management, quality, and safety.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial position involving a large project or program of several projects valued in excess of $500 million.

A minimum of 5 years of experience serving as a project manager or construction manager for a commercial airport.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate construction work with a large and diverse number of stakeholders.

Ability to develop and present project updates to senior leadership.

Compensation The base salary range for this position is $250,000.00 to $275,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
