The USS Midway Museum is an immensely popular event venue. Its unique downtown location, convention center proximity and 360-degree panorama view make it an unparalleled venue for every occasion. More than 700 private and active-duty Navy events are held annually. The Midway can accommodate events for up to 3,500 guests.
The Museum is seeking an Event Sales and Service Manager that is interested in working in a highly collaborative, fun and customer-focused environment, appreciates volunteer service, enjoys problem solving and is passionate about making an impact at work. The Event Sales and Service Manager is responsible for the selling, planning, and managing of all assigned event leads and/or repeat event functions for groups between 250 – 800 attendees.

Consistent Conversion and Revenue Growth
Successfully follows up on all incoming leads, converts inquiries into booked events, and maximizes revenue through strategic up-selling while maintaining strong client relationships.
Produces detailed, accurate, and up-to-date contracts, sales orders, and event paperwork that clearly reflects all event details and client requirements.
Exceptional Client Experience and Service
Provides timely, clear, and professional communication throughout the sales and planning process, creating a seamless, positive experience that results in repeat business and strong client satisfaction.
Proactively coordinates with internal departments, volunteers, and stakeholders to resolve challenges, manage event details, and ensure a high-quality final product in a collaborative, customer-focused environment.
Collaboration, Ownership & Problem Solving
Works effectively across departments, takes ownership of events and projects, and proactively resolves issues.
Responsibilities
Follow up on all incoming leads.
Plan, up-sell, and detail all assigned events.
Ensure all assigned events are executed to include space requirements, equipment, beverage menu, themes, decorations, etc.
Complete the event contracts, prepare the appropriate paperwork, coordinate with the appropriate departments to resolve any issues, or problems to ensure a high-level product is delivered.
Provide effective, timely information to the client and Midway staff, communicating and coordinating the client’s requirements with the appropriate areas of the Midway.
Participate in communication and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and promote sales.
Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Education/Experience
Minimum two years of employment in event sales and operations.
Requires thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of the events and/or hospitality profession.
Skills/Abilities
Computer skills to include proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Reserve and diagram software a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly in a professional, courteous manner.
Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
Must be able to qualify business effectively.
Must be persuasive and tenacious and possess a tremendous personal drive.
Must possess communication skills in terms of the ability to negotiate, convince, sell and influence professionals.
Thorough knowledge of sales skills.
Must always maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the need.
Must be a team player, working together for the financial success of the Midway.
Must work well with minimal supervision.
Exceptional attention to detail and follow up.
Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities and/or information involving readily available data and indicating logical conclusions and recommendations.
Pay Pay:
The hourly pay range for this full-time position is $28.00 - $32.00. The rate of pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, and experience and take into account internal equity. The Museum is not able to offer compensation outside of this posted range.
Working Conditions Job Conditions/Work Location:
Work is performed aboard an Aircraft Carrier in all weather conditions, indoor and outdoor.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting for long periods, climbing up/down stairs and ladders; and carry up to 20 pounds; reach both above and below shoulder height.
Equipment Operated:
Computer, printers, fax machine, telephone, copier, and scanner.
