
Overview
Develop and set revenue sales and marketing strategies for the hotel to ensure plans are implemented, results are monitored and sales goals are achieved. Regularly sell hotel rooms, meeting rooms and food and beverage through direct client contacts.

Duties And Responsibilities
Achieve budgeted revenues and personal sales goals and maximize profitability. Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget, the hotel marketing plan and business plan, and financial plans.
Create and implement sales plans that drive measurable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, increase volume, food and beverage and banquet sales.
Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan.
Achieve a minimum 12 bookings quarterly on new LNR contracts.
Develop new accounts, maintain existing accounts and implement sales strategies.
Coordinate with other department heads to ensure proper staffing, and to facilitate all Services agreed upon by sales department.
Be accountable for all booking successes and failures, example: send out thank you letters to all groups and apology letters when necessary.
Help out after hours if needed and on weekends.
Answer phone for questions while away from the hotels.
Always present self in a professional manner.
Must attend outside networking events and/or make outside sales call twice a week.
Make sure a weekly schedule is out by the Wednesday of the week before to let the GM know where and which areas they will be marketing in.
Review monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan.
Create and develop special events and sales blitzes to showcase the hotel to potential clients. Attend trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and increase sale and marketing opportunities for the hotel.
Provide guests with information (example: loyalty programs, area attractions, restaurants, facility information) to enhance guest experience.
Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and outside contacts in order to produce group and/or convention business, to include room sales, food & beverage sales and catering/banquet services.
Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and outside contacts (example: guests, airlines, wholesalers, travel agencies, ad agencies, local community groups) in order to produce group and/or convention business, to include room sales, catering and meeting room sales.
Maintain a continuous open door policy to answer team member questions needing immediate attention.
Schedule conventions and/or business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel-level departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.
Ensure contracts are correct and updated to fit the Customer’s needs before it is sent out to the client.
Enter Group Blocks, rooming lists, Posting Master accounts and reservations into the Property Management System. Also participates in room setup for groups booked from time to time and is present during big groups to see things go smooth by keeping constant communication with Managers.
Identify operational problems that reduce the effectiveness of marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance and work with appropriate department on solutions.
Develop awareness and reputation of the hotel and the brand in the local community. Perform other duties as assigned.
May also serve as manager on duty and must host Manager’s reception from time to time if needed.
Must create room diagrams for meeting room setup and coordinate any daily turnover with GM and Operation manager to ensure rooms are set up to the client’s exact specification.
Must follow all guide lines for Sales Meetings During peak times.
Accountability This is the top sales and marketing job in a full- or limited-service hotel and may include meeting space and/or catering facilities. May manage professional-level and administrative sales team members.
Qualifications And Requirements
Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in marketing or related field and two to four years of experience in a hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting with direct supervisory experience over a sales team or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Must speak fluent English.
Other languages preferred.
