Title: Mechanical Designer Rate: $45-$50/hour Schedule: 40 hours Location: Tewksbury, MA Overview: The Mechanical Designer supports the design of mechanical equipment and piping systems for process gases, pressure regulation, cryogenics, and compressed gas applications, working closely with engineering, project, and field teams. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and develop PFDs, P&IDs, piping layouts, isometric fabrication drawings, bills of materials, and general arrangement drawings using CADWorx. Apply company, client, and industry drafting and design standards. Interface with engineers and reference vendor data, catalogs, and technical documentation. Participate in design reviews with project managers, engineers, and clients. Provide technical support to manufacturing shops and construction teams during fabrication and installation. Support business development efforts through preliminary designs and scope development. Coordinate with other disciplines as needed, including: Electrical: grounding plans, hazardous area classifications, conduit and cable tray layouts Civil: 3D foundation models for equipment layout Structural: skid packages, pipe racks, and pipe support drawings Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology. Proven experience drafting and detailing piping systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.). Working knowledge of 3D scanning and field verification. Knowledge of piping materials, supports, and restraints. Preferred Qualifications: 6+ years of mechanical system design experience in the utility, gas, or power industries. Strong experience with CADWorx Plant Professional, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or similar 3D piping software. Familiarity with applicable codes and standards, including ASME B31.3, ASME B31.8, 49 CFR Parts 192 & 193, and NFPA 59A.
