What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a strategic, results-driven, Marketing Manager who is adept at social media, email, and search engine marketing. This is an exciting opportunity for a marketing leader who excels at creative storytelling, understands the social media algorithms and trends, and can efficiently and professionally produce video, image, and written content with which our audiences will engage.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently and in small teams, passionate about Outdoor Afro’s mission, excited to use their unique skillset to grow a community of nature leaders, sponsors, and donors, and has built a community/network of influencers, marketers, and content producers of their own with whom they can collaborate.
Based on a strategy co-developed with the Chief Programs & Innovation Officer, to whom the role reports, the Marketing Manager will develop a campaign and content calendar that details the target audiences, channels, CTAs, and KPIs.
This position plays a crucial role within the organization. Success in the role will be measured based on the rate of audience engagement, follower growth and conversion, app downloads, ad sales, individual donations, and supporting programmatic goals—including reaching our goal of 5000 new swimmers in 2026.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Marketing Leadership & Brand Awareness
Co-develop and execute Outdoor Afro’s overall marketing strategy.
Translate marketing strategy into weekly, monthly, and seasonal campaigns that can achieve our goals.
Own and manage all marketing initiatives across website, social media (content and ads), email, and paid media.
Manage relationships with SEM, public relations agency, web development, and creative contractors.
Ensure consistent brand voice and messaging across all platforms, amplifying Outdoor Afro’s mission and impact.
Content Development & Production
Design and produce video content to help Outdoor Afro stay visible on social media (IG, TikTok, YouTube, Spill, FB).
Review engagement stats and trends daily to ensure content is winning in social media algorithms and converting with audiences.
Partner with and leverage content from our corp of Volunteer Leaders and Brand Ambassadors who produce photo and video content to promote outdoor activities and trips, repurposing and re-mixing the content to maximize engagement.
Collaborate with social media influencers to co-develop and syndicate content to their platforms and ours to grow reach, engagement, and conversion.
Collaborate with Communications Manager to develop/repurpose monthly newsletter content.
Partner with Outdoor Afro’s PR agency to leverage content related to our founder.
Audience Growth, Engagement & Community Building
Develop and execute strategies to grow Outdoor Afro’s social media followers and engagement (shares, comments, purchases, referrals, app downloads), leveraging platform algorithms, trends, and analytics.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with brands–online and off–and influencers to increase visibility, engagement, and conversion.
Optimize email marketing and social media to cultivate and convert followers into advertisers, sponsors, donors and evangelizers.
Collaborate with the development team and Communications Manager to design and implement campaigns that convert social media followers and email subscribers into advertisers and donors.
Performance Measurement & Data Analytics
Track, measure, and analyze marketing performance using Google Analytics, social media insights, and marketing automation tools.
Use data to optimize campaign effectiveness, improve audience engagement, and increase donor conversion rates.
Utilize marketing automation tools to segment audiences and deliver targeted, personalized content.
Develop regular performance reports to inform strategy and share key insights with leadership.
What Success Looks - First 90 Days
Increase Instagram and Facebook engagement (increase follows, comments, shares)
Develop campaigns to drive app downloads, brand ambassador engagement, and swim partner network growth.
Execute a campaign to convert social media followers and email subscribers into advertisers, donors, and patrons of Outdoor Afro-branded merch.
What You’ll Bring
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required (Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field preferred).
5+ years of experience in social media marketing roles where you produced the video and other content.
Proven success in designing and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns (social media, email, SEO, website content, paid media).
Experience managing relationships with social media influencers/brand ambassadors
Must-Have Technical Skills & Tools
Strong proficiency in video production (for reels, stories, posts), social media marketing and advertising, Google Analytics for SEM and SEO.
Experience using marketing automation and web tools (e.g., HubSpot, Sprout Social, MailChimp, AdWords, WordPress).
Deep understanding of social media algorithms and content engagement strategies across Instagram, TikTok, Spill, and Facebook.

Work Schedule and Location
Full-time, exempt position—40 hours per week.
Remote (U.S.-based)
Some evening and weekend work required for campaign launches and events.
Occasional travel for team meetings, events, and marketing activations.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
