
The Housing Specialist works as a member of the social service team to provide Rapid Rehousing and Homelessness Prevention services to our program participants. Functions as a bridge between residents and housing providers to empower program participants to overcome barriers and meet the goals identified on their individualized housing stability plans. Identifies safe, affordable, permanent housing options for clients; fosters relationships with landlords and realtors to link each program participant with appropriate community supports to ensure their housing stability and sustainability.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED Equivalency Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Experience with electronic database systems, HMIS preferred. Valid Driver’s License Experience Working with homeless individuals and families. Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills required. Availability to attend events outside of normal business hours when necessary. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist individuals and families in identifying, applying for, and securing permanent affordable housing, including preparation for housing applications and interviews. Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify individual and family barriers to securing and maintaining affordable permanent housing. Maintain regular contact with participants to monitor progress and collaborate on individualized stability plans for Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Rehousing services. Provide supportive services designed to promote housing stability, including individual and group counseling, workshops, education, referrals, and transportation assistance. Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, housing providers, and community partners to support participants, while developing and sustaining a housing inventory of available units through ongoing outreach, collaboration, and networking. Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date documentation in compliance with funding requirements and agency quality assurance standards. Track, monitor, and report housing placement rates for all participant families. Coordinate the provision of Temporary Financial Assistance with third parties and agency personnel.
