Position Overview
The Asset Diligence & Portfolio Oversight Associate will be responsible for participating in pre-close and ongoing asset diligence sessions, building out portfolio oversight processes and procedures, and assisting the Finance team in the transaction close process and valuation process.
Responsibilities
Asset Diligence
Support financial and operational due diligence on potential investments, including industry research, operational assessment, and risk analysis.
Assist in pre- and post-investment evaluations, ensuring that underwriting assumptions align with actual company performance.
Collaborate with deal teams to identify key value drivers, operational risks, and post-close initiatives for portfolio companies.
Work closely with finance, legal, tax, and compliance teams to review transaction structures and investment documentation.
Maintain ongoing monitoring tools to identify and communicate portfolio company news and alerts
Investment Oversight & Performance Monitoring
Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial, operational, and strategic progress across portfolio companies.
Collect, store and analyze portfolio company performance against underwriting assumptions and business plans.
Review portfolio company financial statements and board reports for key findings and insights.
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to communicate performance reports and key risks
Asset Enhancement
Work with deal teams to review portfolio company operational procedures, systems, and finance personnel are best practice.
Leverage industry trends and benchmarking data to identify opportunities for operational enhancements.
Valuation & Transaction Support
Assist in the quarterly and annual valuation process for the firm’s portfolio investments in accordance with fair value accounting standards (ASC 820, IFRS 13).
Coordinate with external valuation firms, auditors, and investment committees to review and validate valuation assumptions.
Participate in the transaction closing process, including review of transaction docs, documentation of key terms, and proper recording.
Qualifications
4-7+ years of experience in portfolio company finance (FP&A, controller, strategy, or operations finance), audit, transaction advisory, consulting, or PE diligence.
Strong financial analysis and valuation skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements and business drivers.
Proven track record of identifying and implementing operational or reporting improvements
Exposure to investment processes such as due diligence, transaction closings, or valuations
Experience developing and tracking KPIs, board reporting and management dashboards
Deep understanding of operational and financial performance drivers within a portfolio company context.
Ability to work cross-functionally with deal teams, management teams, back-office functions and external advisors.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
The annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $150,000 USD. The actual base salary will depend upon the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, skills, business needs and market. This role may be eligible for a discretionary bonus and if awarded is based on a variety of factors including firm and individual performance.
