Mechanical Estimator
DPR Construction is seeking a mechanical estimator with at least 5 years of experience estimating for technical commercial construction projects. The estimator will create estimates for technical commercial projects within our core markets of healthcare, higher education, advanced technology, life science, and commercial construction. The estimator will work closely with the local leadership team, the southeast regional MEP precon group and all members of preconstruction / estimating team.
Responsibilities
Conceptual estimating (from napkin sketches and/or design narratives)
Schematic design through construction document level estimating (quantification and estimating)
Development of the GMP package for mechanical scopes (HVAC, process piping, plumbing, fire protection and controls)
Interaction with trade partner (subcontractor) communities across multiple DPR offices throughout the southeast
Management of design/build or design-assist trade partners
Coordination with key equipment suppliers / vendors
Preparation and analysis of long lead equipment procurement (scoping, leveling & development of purchase orders to vendors)
Presentation of estimates/budgets with owners/consultants
Preparation and analysis of mechanical bid packages, including final trade partner procurement
Collaborating with DPR’s self-perform groups, including the electrical team (EIG), prefabrication group and design-management team
Developing cost and schedule reduction analysis and presenting to owners/consultants
Supporting other offices throughout the southeast for various mechanical estimating needs (less than 20% travel anticipated)
Constructability reviews of the mechanical scopes
Qualifications
Excellent listening skills and strong communication skills
Ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues
Effective participation in team environment
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of WinEst, BlueBeam and Onscreen Takeoff
Process piping experience is desirable
5+ years of experience as an estimator within DPR’s core markets
A strong work ethic and a “can-do,” solution-oriented attitude
