The Immigration Paralegal role at CNK Law Firm is pivotal to our mission of delivering exceptional client service and legal representation. This position is essential to maintaining the firm's efficiency and effectiveness in handling a high volume of immigration cases. By taking ownership of the preparation and management of motions, applications, and hearings, the Paralegal will directly impact our clients' paths to achieving their immigration goals. This role supports our attorney in providing high-quality legal services while ensuring clients feel supported and informed throughout their legal journey.
What you’ll do:
Removal Defense + Court Filings:
Draft, file and manage applications for relief, motions and briefs in removal proceedings; maintain impeccable deadlines and filing procedures.
Client Preparation:
Prepare clients for hearings, organize exhibits/evidence, and ensure clients understand what to expect and how to show up prepared.
USCIS Applications:
Prepare and file USCIS affirmative applications and evidence packets (e.g., adjustment, naturalization, family-based filings, etc.), and manage post-filing follow-up.
Complex Case Types:
Support matters such as waivers (including divorce/abuse-based categories), VAWA, asylum, U visas, consular processing, and green card applications.
Client Communication:
Maintain frequent, professional communication with clients – updates, document requests, and expectation-setting – while protecting confidentiality.
Case Management + Documentation:
Keep Docketwise updated, track tasks/deadlines, and maintain organized digital and physical files.
Research + Drafting: Conduct legal/procedural research and draft persuasive written work product with proper citations and supporting evidence.
Front-Office Support (as needed):
Help ensure clients feel welcomed (e.g., offer water/snack when appropriate) and supported when they come into the office.
What we’re looking for:
Experience:
Minimum 2–3 years as an immigration paralegal (more experience strongly preferred).
Work Ethic:
Self-starter with strong follow-through; you do not require daily supervision to produce high-quality work.
Autonomy:
Sound judgment, ability to prioritize, and comfort working independently in a small, busy firm.
Legal Writing:
Demonstrated ability to draft motions/briefs and assemble complete, well-supported filings.
Client-Centered:
Professional, empathetic communicator who protects the client experience and the firm’s values.
Tech:
Comfortable working in Docketwise and Google Workspace; able to learn firm-specific SOPs quickly.
Reliability + Confidentiality:
Discreet, trustworthy, and meticulous with deadlines and recordkeeping.
