Position Analyst – Strategy & Business Development

at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). Regular full time. Base salary: $60,000 – $91,125.

What you will be doing The Analyst plays an integral role on HSS’s Strategy & Business Development team, providing market analysis, project management, and strategic insight to support the organization’s growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Develop business and market analyses to inform strategic initiatives such as clinical program rollouts, regional expansion strategies, strategic partnerships, and business development opportunities.

Create tools to monitor departmental performance and attainment of strategic goals using external and internal data sources (e.g., claims data, state hospital databases, EPIC).

Monitor competitive and market intelligence and provide concise, actionable communications to senior leadership regarding opportunities, trends, and threats.

Prepare analyses using market share data, physician profiling, market projections, and research to support decision‑making.

Support senior leadership in managing key projects to ensure on‑time, on‑budget completion.

Update dashboards and reporting tools to facilitate oversight of projects, strategic initiatives, and departmental performance.

Create presentations that clearly convey key findings from analyses.

Assist in developing internal and external materials for strategy communications, including presentations to board members and medical staff.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (clinical, finance, operations) to develop and implement strategic initiatives.

Act as a thought partner and internal consultant to enterprise stakeholders, framing strategic questions and evaluating options.

Support initiatives to increase market share and capture, working closely with senior strategy leaders.

Minimum Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Economics, or a related field.

1–2 years of related experience in healthcare, strategic planning, consulting, or a similar field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Strong interest in healthcare and knowledge of market trends.

Excellent analytical skills; ability to interpret data and report findings clearly.

Excellent project management skills.

Strong written and oral communication skills to create compelling presentations.

Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Capable of managing complex assignments independently.

Adaptable and flexible, able to navigate ambiguity and take on open‑ended problems.

Strong computer skills and ability to quickly understand and manipulate new data sources.

Experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel) and data visualization tools such as Tableau.

Basic knowledge of database structure and SQL is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits Base salary range: $60,000 – $91,125. Additional benefits consistent with the role are available.
