Communications Specialist Location: This role can sit in our Milpitas or Oakland office Type: Hybrid

Position Purpose We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic communications professional to join our team! You will be responsible for leading communications initiatives that increase brand visibility and position XL Construction and our trade entities for future growth. The ideal candidate will possess skills in digital, social media, and written communications and keen attention to detail. Collaboration with individuals and teams throughout our organization will be essential to success in this role.

Responsibilities

Write and publish content for websites, thought leadership articles, newsletters, advertising and sponsorship opportunities, and social media platforms

Develop winning submissions for public speaking and award opportunities.

Develop and manage the company’s social media calendar.

Capture analytics and metrics on website traffic, social media, and media coverage of the organization’s brands to gain insights and course correct to increase engagement.

Write and publish content for internal communications and make updates to the company intranet.

Create content for internal company events and initiatives (i.e., safety week, construction inclusion week)

Support branding and signage maintenance at office and job site locations

Coordinate and catalog project photography and videography

Conduct market research as requested, including competitor analysis and client research

Edit content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.

Presentation development

Document formatting

Content library organization and management

Knowledge And Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing and/or communications, preferably in the AEC industry

Degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or relevant field preferred

Basic knowledge of current communications practices and techniques

Excellent design sense with a high level of creativity

Strong technical proficiency in:

Adobe Creative Suite

Canva

Microsoft Office

Project management tools such as Asana, Basecamp

CRM systems such as Salesforce, Deltek, Unanet

Social media management tools such as Hootsuite

CMS systems for websites such as Wix, WordPress

Company intranet platforms such as Interact

Skills And Abilities

Technical Ability: excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; keen attention to detail

Industry Knowledge: basic understanding of the business of the AEC industry

Collaboration: ability to build constructive and effective relationships at all levels internally and externally

Organization: excellent organization skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while managing multiple demands

Teamwork: a team player with a can-do attitude and willingness to pitch in to help get the work done, even if it requires overtime

Additional Information Starting compensation for this role typically ranges between $72,000 and $90,000. Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc. Your recruiter can share additional details during the interview process.
