
Product Specialist, Annuities and Insurance

Overview
Provides sales and product support for advisors and their teams, incorporating insured solutions within the context of financial planning. Partners closely with the Divisional Insurance and Annuity VP and Client Strategies Team to understand client needs and provide product solutions. Collaborates with other RBC internal partners to enhance the advisor and client experience. The role serves as a subject matter expert for annuities and insurance products (Insured Solutions), proactively increasing utilization through policy updates, book reviews and integration into financial planning. Primary focus will be on annuity products, with life insurance and long-term care solutions as secondary. Annuity Strategists may engage directly with advisors and their clients, annuity wholesalers and approved General Agency Partners. Candidates should demonstrate in-depth product knowledge and the ability to utilize RBC tools, product research, financial planning technology, enforce policy data, and business reporting capabilities to support the business line.
What will you do? Possess a strong understanding of insurance and annuity product offerings.
Support advisors with proactively identifying client opportunities, reviewing existing policies, providing product overviews and assisting with the execution of business with carrier wholesalers and internal partners.
Understand planning strategies utilizing insured solutions.
Answer general to in-depth product and strategy questions and demonstrate how solutions fit into financial planning.
Summarize and analyze client needs and the purpose and performance of existing annuity and insurance assets.
Develop and promote sales ideas and effective business practices with the field and internal partners.
Collaborate with RBC USWM field consultants, RBC internal partners, carrier wholesalers and general agent partners to ensure appropriate advisor support.
Understand and engage RBC tools and other software capabilities as appropriate.
Develop a strong understanding of RBC Policies and Procedures to assist advisors in conducting business appropriately.
Partner with wholesalers and general agents supporting key strategies and solutions that enable clients to achieve their financial planning goals, including retirement and financial strategies, life and long-term care analysis, asset protection, and business and charitable planning.
Work with product management to manage and enhance existing carriers and products, and ensure appropriate field support from wholesalers and general agents by actively communicating feedback from the field.
Work with product management to support development of key marketing materials focused on planning strategies and solutions, and actively distribute material to advisors, wholesalers and general agents.
Perform other special assignments as needed.
Qualifications
Must-have Bachelors degree
Minimum of 5 years in the financial services industry with extensive annuity and life insurance experience
Series 63/65 or 66, appropriate life insurance licensing
Strong understanding of financial planning and incorporating protection solution strategies and concepts
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Extensive insurance carrier and product knowledge
Effective organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn multiple software tools
High degree of professionalism in interactions with clients and partners; ability to work as a team to act in clients’ best interests

Understand and support advisors, general agents and wholesalers through comprehensive financial planning tools focusing on estate planning, retirement, and advanced planning concepts through the application of protection solutions

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000-$130,000, depending on experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs. You may have the potential to earn more through RBC’s discretionary variable compensation program, subject to business performance and individual goals.
