Introduction to the team We are seeking a Data Scientist II to join our high-performing Advertising Technology team, where we use data, experimentation, and applied modeling to improve ad delivery, ranking, auctions, and bidding performance. This role sits at the intersection of applied statistics, machine learning, experimentation, and large-scale advertising systems, turning complex business questions into measurable, data-driven insights. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Machine Learning, and Analytics teams to design experiments, analyze large-scale datasets, and build self-service tools that inform decisions and drive continuous improvement across the advertising marketplace. Responsibilities

Apply statistics, machine learning, and experimentation to improve ad delivery, ranking, auctions, and bidding performance. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Machine Learning, and Analytics teams to design experiments and analyze large-scale datasets. Build self-service tools that inform decisions and drive continuous improvements across the advertising marketplace. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative field 3–5 years of professional experience in a data science, applied science, or analytics role Hands-on experience developing machine learning and AI models for real-world business problems, with successful production deployment Strong foundation in statistics and applied data analysis Hands-on experience designing, running, and analyzing A/B experiments, and interpreting results to inform decisions Proficiency in SQL and experience working with large-scale datasets using Spark or Databricks Proficiency in Python and experience using ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow for analysis and modeling Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey analytical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Preferred Qualifications

Experience working on advertising, ad delivery, auctions, bidding, ranking, or marketplace systems Applied experience with ML models used in ads, such as CTR/CVR prediction, ranking, or optimization models Familiarity with auction mechanics, including first-price vs. second-price auctions, pacing, and budget constraints Experience working with modern deep learning architectures, such as Transformers/BERT, DCN, Graph Neural Networks, GANs, or diffusion models Background in ads, marketplaces, e-commerce, or travel platforms The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. The total cash range for this position in San Jose is $122,500.00 to $171,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $196,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
