plays a strategic role in planning and executing digital marketing programs for the Zondervan Books group, with a specific focus on

content strategy and development that drives awareness and interest in our books

.

This role is responsible for identifying compelling reader-facing content opportunities, developing scalable content assets, and transforming long-form material—such as manuscripts, chapters, author interviews, and ideas—into high-performing content across digital platforms. This position supports integrated digital marketing campaigns for frontlist and select backlist titles and works closely with internal teams, authors, and partners to ensure content aligns with audience needs and sales goals. The ideal candidate is a

content-first digital marketer

who understands how to meet readers where they are, test and refine messaging, and guide audiences back to long-form content—most often, books. This role focuses on the marketing content readers encounter

before

they arrive at a book’s retail page. The Senior Digital Marketing Manager, Content Marketing is responsible for turning nonfiction books and author ideas into engaging, platform-native content across channels such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Meta. Performance insights from this content help inform book launches, improve retail pages, and support both frontlist and backlist strategies. The ideal candidate is a data-driven, collaborative marketer who thrives in a fast-moving environment, brings strong editorial judgment, and can confidently manage multiple projects at various stages of the marketing lifecycle. This is a hybrid position, based out of Nashville, TN, but we are open to qualified candidates outside of the Nashville area. Content Development and Strategy Apply strong editorial judgment to identify what will resonate with readers and why Use AI tools to

accelerate creative development

while maintaining high standards for quality and discernment Distill long-form content (manuscripts, chapters, essays, interviews) into multiple short-form content angles tailored to different platforms Publish, test, and refine content across channels to understand audience response and improve performance Build simple, repeatable workflows that enable content creation to scale efficiently over time Balance speed and quality while managing multiple content initiatives Communicate clearly and effectively with authors and internal teams throughout the content development process Team Support Leverage weekly and on-demand performance reporting across advertising, website, email, YouTube, and social platforms to continually refine content strategies Contribute to the development and implementation of processes that support cross-channel digital advertising campaigns for frontlist and backlist titles Collaborate closely with internal HCCP teams, as well as author teams, on shared initiatives Partner with Amazon marketing and other internal stakeholders to use content insights to inform launches, optimize book pages, and support overall sales strategy Qualifications

Work Experience/Knowledge: 5+ years of experience in digital marketing or a related role, preferably in DTC, educational/information marketing, or publishing Demonstrated experience in content strategy and asset development Strong understanding of platform-specific content performance and algorithms Experience with PPC advertising platforms, including Meta, Google, Amazon, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Pinterest Amazon advertising experience is a plus Experience using AI as a collaborative tool within marketing workflows Website content management experience (WordPress, Shopify) Familiarity with social media management tools Experience with project management software Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint Design and editing experience using Adobe or similar tools Education:

Bachelor’s in marketing or related field Industry Knowledge: Required:

Knowledgeable in digital advertising & analytics best practices. Understanding of brand management, and audience development. Preferred:

Experience in client-service role. Skills: Analytical and metrics-based decision-making experience Strong communication skills – both external communication to potential readers, as well as internal communication to facilitate the planning & execution of marketing strategies with core constituents including authors & agents. Ability to translate data and trends into actionable strategies and improved business outcomes Ability to develop testing methodologies and adjust strategy based on test results Strong organizational and time management skills. High attention to detail. Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships and collaborate. Teamwork – this role works with integrated marketing plans and works cross-functionally with various team members throughout the organization.
