Your Part in It Working out of our Chicago, IL global headquarters, we are looking for our next Director of Commercial Development. Working within the sales department, you will report directly to our Vice President of Sales for the US.
Director of Commercial Development Role Overview:
The Director of Commercial Development is a senior sales leadership role responsible for driving organic revenue growth across our domestic freight brokerage while crossing selling our international capabilities. This role is highly focused on new business development, expanding existing customer relationships, and leading a sales team to consistently grow market share and wallet share.
Success will be measured by sales growth—both from the business the Director personally develops and from the results achieved by the sales professionals they lead and support.
Key Responsibilities
Own and execute commercial growth strategy with a primary focus on organic sales growth
Personally identify, pursue, and close new client opportunities within domestic freight brokerage, with the ability to introduce international solutions
Drive consistent revenue production through a combination of individual sales efforts and team performance
Lead, mentor, and support a team of sales representatives and/or account managers
Work closely with existing customers to expand the company’s freight footprint and increase share of wallet
Collaborate with operations, pricing, and executive leadership to align commercial strategy with execution
Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or transportation sales
At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or sales management role
Proven track record of closing new business and driving organic revenue growth
Demonstrated ability to grow existing accounts and increase market share
Strong understanding of domestic freight brokerage; experience or exposure to international freight brokering is a plus
Ability to balance hands-on selling with team leadership and development
