Job Description Summary The Area Director of Operations is responsible for the overall direction of the healthcare services. The Area Director of Operations is also responsible for establishing standards of care to comply with federal and state regulations and guidelines. The Area Director of Operations establishes, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives for healthcare services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities Oversight of operational planning and budgeting. Ensures organizational compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements. Assures that all businesses\' conduct is above the minimum standards required by law and will not condone any activities that achieve results through violation of the law, unethical business or patient care practices. Oversight and works closely with local leader of business operations to insure financial stability. Ability to de-escalate conflict and provide continuous resolutions. Understand when to utilize the Human resources team as employee relation issues arise. Establishes and ensures effective channels of communication including integration or technology, as applicable. Works with local leaders to ensure hospice personnel stay current with clinical information and practices. Works with local leader to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing. Ensures staffing ratios are being followed. Ensures staff development including orientation, in-service, continuing education, competency testing and quality assessment performance improvement is being conducted. Ensures that interdisciplinary care is consistently provided. Ensures staff and organizations stay current on local and national healthcare issues and trends. Ensures that appropriate service policies and procedures are developed and implemented to accomplish identified outcomes. In conjunction with local leaders, monitors service utilization to ensure delivery of comprehensive care. Ensures services provided by other agencies are authorized. Ensures appropriate data collection and regular, complete reports are received by the VP, Operations. In conjunction with local leader, ensures actionable objectives are derived from evaluation of hospice services and personnel. Ensures that structure and systems promote consistent interdisciplinary care. Ensures standards of ethical business and clinical practices are always maintained. Must adhere to the company attendance and reliability guidelines, which are an essential function of the job to ensure quality, and consistent patient care. The incumbent(s) may be requested to perform job related tasks other than those stated in the description . Position Qualifications Must be a Registered nurses with a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a professional nurse within the last three (3) years OR (b) have a baccalaureate degree in nursing from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing and a current RN license. A minimum of two years’ experience, at least one of which is in public health, home care, or hospice nursing, is preferred. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in health care management. Demonstrates an ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel. Has an ability to deal tactfully with the community. Has knowledge of corporate business management. Understands and follows all federal and state regulations of ACHC Standards. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License with automobile that is in good working order and insured in accordance with the organization requirements. Physical Requirements The ability to sit occasionally for 1-3 hours. The ability to frequently stand for 3-6 hours. The ability to occasionally drive/ operate foot control for 1-3 hours. The ability to walk intermittently on level and or unlevel surface for less than 1 hour. The ability to intermittently bend or climb for less than 1 hour. The ability to occasionally twist, kneel, crouch and crawl for 1-3 hours. The ability to lift 50 pounds frequently for 3-6 hours. The ability to lift greater than 50 pounds occasionally for 1-3 hours. The ability to carry up to 50 pounds frequently for 3-6 hours. The ability to carry greater than 50 pounds occasionally for 1-3 hours. The ability to push up to 50 pounds frequently for 3-6 hours. The ability to push greater than 50 pounds occasionally for 1-3 hours. The ability to pull up to 50 pounds frequently for 3-6 hours.
