EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR-ST VINCENT’S FOUNDATION The University of Alabama at Birmingham

Position Summary The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an Executive Director to work in the Office of Advancement with the St. Vincent’s Foundation team. This position will manage day to day operations of the Foundation and will plan, implement, and evaluate all philanthropic activities for the support and benefit of UAB St. Vincent’s.

The Executive Director will have experience creating a comprehensive fundraising plan including but not limited to the following areas: major gifts, planned giving, event fundraising, volunteer boards, annual giving, philanthropic communications, donor recognition and a grateful patient program.

The Executive Director will also have a collaborative and can do approach to leadership and an understanding of the integrated nature of development within an academic medical center or other healthcare operation. The incumbent will also lead a team of advancement professionals and will be responsible for this team’s efforts.

This position will report to the Associate Vice President for Development, UAB Medicine/Heersink School of Medicine.

This position is a hybrid eligible after the probationary period.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, executes and evaluates an overall strategic vision for the UAB St. Vincent’s Foundation including developing and implementing fundraising strategies from implementation to conclusion

Manage financial resources

Manage a high-functioning advancement team including hiring and coaching/developing all team members

Responsible for the management of the Foundation’s funds and endowment

Develops volunteer support and participation at all levels of UAB St. Vincent’s

Performs other duties as assigned

Salary Pay Range: $114,710 – $155,000

Qualifications Minimum Requirements A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or a related field is required, and ten (10) years of relevant experience is required, preferably in higher education fundraising or a related area. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.

Preferred Minimum of 5 years of senior development management

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current guidelines include possession of a valid driver's license issued in the United States, at least 21 years of age and at least 3 years of driving experience. Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Preferences

Ability to conceive, plan and implement fundraising programs which focus on building internal and external relationships

Executive management experience relative to HR management (recruitment/retention, employee positioning, feedback, staffing, ROI, etc.). Ability to train and provide direction to others

Demonstrated ability to balance multiple competing projects in a deadline driven environment

Demonstrated experience in strategic visioning and in developing and successfully implementing initiatives and metrics with measurable goals

Ability to successfully work within a complex/matrix-oriented environment and have experience as a proven collaborator within a division and across an organization

Creative problem solving, flexibility and composure under pressure

Demonstrated knowledge of IRS, federal HIPAA rules and various federal and industry (CASE) guidelines and best practices as it related to grateful patient information

Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality of all information including but not limited to patient and prospect/donor information

Excellent knowledge of financial operations including departmental budget planning and administration Volunteer management

Advanced knowledge of planned giving/endowments

Advancement technology experience
