Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Conflict Management Specialist for Employee Partners of Conflict Transformation (EmPact) within the Office of Workplace Culture. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Cross-Campus Collaboration Represents EmPaCT as a key contributor and thought leader across several institutional initiatives and governance groups. Assists in ensuring that EmPaCT's services are integrated into broader campus strategies for inclusive excellence and workforce resilience. Program Implementation

Provides a respectful and safe place for employees to discuss issues and concerns while creating and maintaining a positive workplace culture. Provides quick, effective, and responsive conflict management through varied techniques, including but not limited to mediation, facilitated conversations, and informal dispute resolution. Coaches supervisors on correcting inappropriate conduct and provides guidance on having difficult conversations. Explains relevant University policies and processes, and makes referrals to appropriate offices. Triages casework, identifies potential solutions to address different case types, and acts appropriately using guidelines and Policies. Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of EmPaCT's core services and resources, including standard workshops such as

Non-Violent Communication

and

Difficult Conversations , which are available to all faculty and staff.

Data-Driven Innovation & Operational Excellence

Works in EmPaCT's case management operations, including the development and utilization of the OneSource system to monitor case trends, assess organizational needs, and evaluate program effectiveness. Leverages data and stakeholder feedback to identify patterns, generate insights, and inform strategic planning and resource allocation.

Project Leadership & Institutional Impact

Contributes to high-impact institutional initiatives and special projects aligned with the University's strategic goals for talent development, community well-being, and organizational effectiveness. Demonstrates agility in responding to emerging needs and provides leadership on mission-critical efforts to strengthen employee engagement and trust across the institution.

Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. A minimum of 5 years' experience in conflict management/mediation. Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong HR background with experience in mediation/conflict management. Demonstrated solid judgment and experience assessing risk. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

6 years' experience in conflict management/mediation. Undergraduate and/or graduate certificates in conflict resolution, dispute resolution, arbitration, mediation, or related fields strongly preferred. Experience in higher education.
