Client Overview:
Our client, an established apparel company specializing in women’s and men’s categories, is seeking a
Freelance Assistant Designer
with experience in men's Bottoms. This team-driven environment offers the opportunity to support the full design lifecycle and contribute to seasonal product development. Salary/Hourly Rate: $25/hr - $30/hr Position Overview: The Freelance Assistant Designer will support the men's bottoms Design team in day-to-day tasks, including creating CADs from hand sketches, developing tech packs, preparing trims and color cards, and assisting with line sheets. This role is ideal for someone highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to work across multiple stages of the design process. Responsibilities of the Freelance Assistant Designer:
Support the Design team in all aspects of the design process, from concept through final seasonal deliveries
Create technical flats, assist with patternmaking/draping, and participate in model fittings
Produce hand sketches and translate them into CADs
Assist with seasonal concept research and development
Create tech packs and help maintain line sheets
Support material development and color sourcing
Attend fit sessions and take detailed notes on revisions, fit comments, and updates
Required Experience/Skills of the Freelance Assistant Designer:
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Knowledge of men's bottoms.
Strong attention to detail and organization.
Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Freelance Assistant Designer:
PLM experience is a plus.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design is required.
