Summary of Position Are you a fast-paced content creator looking for variety and flexibility?

Join our multimedia communications team to put your video and digital production skills to work! Under the general guidance and direction of the Communications and Marketing Manager, create multimedia stories for cable television and social media. Primary responsibilities include video and still photography, conducting interviews, writing, editing and on-camera reporting. Help to craft feature stories and government programs that impact the Coon Rapids community. This position works on average 24-28 hours a week.

Anticipated Hourly Hiring Range: $30.48 - $ 32.23

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Write and Organize Communication Materials Gathers story ideas, writes, edits and proofreads content for a variety of mediums (website, print newsletters, social media, news releases, department publications, etc.). Posts information to the City's communication platforms which include social media sites, websites, and email marketing programs. Takes photos of a variety of subject matter including events, which may sometimes include nights or weekends. Assist with Communications & Marketing-led events as needed. Thorough understanding of Associated Press style. Multimedia Production/Reporting Assists in the City's video productions and development of cable television programming including researching, shooting, writing and editing of programs and appearing on camera as needed delivering the information. Assists in creating multimedia presentations for social media, events or other needs. Research, shoot, write, and edit unique community stories. Demonstrate strong judgment, gathering and verifying accurate information for stories through research, observation and interview. Upload video products to the cable channel, social media and YouTube. Additional Information Follows oral and written instructions such as supervisor's work orders and equipment operation manuals. Regular and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours including nights and weekends as necessary. Transforms ideas and concepts into finished projects in collaboration with team and supervisor. Completes special projects as assigned. Maintains positive professional working relationships with all staff levels, other jurisdictions and outside agencies, and the general public. Performs essential duties and responsibilities under the working conditions and physical demands described herein. Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers. To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

Requires proven experience in communications, and the production of communications materials. Proven experience in video and audio communications, including researching, writing, capturing visual content and editing general assignment stories. Ability to deliver cable television reports, demonstrating energy, confidence, professional appearance and voice quality. Ability to compile and summarize information into a clear, concise and understandable presentation. Ability to work independently and productively to meet deadlines. Ability to perform effectively in municipal environment working with City staff and others to accomplish objectives of City. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently with self-motivation and effective time management. Flexibility in schedule to work some evenings and weekends. Ability to perform duties with tact and discretion. Ability to work cooperatively with City personnel, external vendors, and the public. Ability to be detail-oriented and follow through with tasks. Ability to maintain a team and service-oriented approach to work. Must have the ability to accept constructive criticism or discipline in a positive manner, initiating self-development to improve job performance. Qualifications and Other Information

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to the following: Associates degree in Communications, Journalism or Marketing plus at least one year experience in communications, public relations, marketing or other related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or Marketing. Knowledge of DaVinci Resolve editing software and Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge of website content management systems and current trends in social media.

Examples of objects include camera bag and portable gear. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, distance vision and depth perception. Must be able to operate assigned equipment. EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION: This position will be located at Coon Rapids City Hall and will occasionally work at the CTN - Coon Rapids Community Television Network offices. The employee uses common office supplies and equipment, in addition to cable broadcasting equipment. Exposure to computer monitors in the office is typical. This position works closely with others. The noise level in the work environment may vary as the job involves both studio and field shoots, which may include exposure to inclement weather.
