Role Summary
Associate Director, Sr. IT AI Program Manager responsible for leading and organizing Insmed’s Artificial Intelligence portfolio within the IT Program Management Office. The role focuses on portfolio orchestration and program maturity, providing structure, cadence, and guidance across AI initiatives to organize, sequence, and advance work in a disciplined way. You will partner with delivery managers, IT business partners, and functional teams to translate strategic direction into a well-governed AI portfolio and coordinate portfolio-level planning and governance inputs. Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate a portfolio of AI and ML initiatives across all Insmed functions (e.g., Research, Development, Commercial, IT, Enabling Functions). Define, champion, and operationalize the AI program governance framework, including preparing and facilitating portfolio forums, review committees, and governance meetings. Partner with IT Business Partners to support intake, evaluation, and prioritization of new AI use cases, ensuring portfolio alignment to maximize business value. Provide leadership across a matrixed environment of IT Project Managers, business partners, and functions to reinforce program discipline, quality standards, and cross-initiative alignment. Implement portfolio-level risk management practices, translating technical challenges into business-relevant risks, impact assessments, and mitigation options. Oversee third-party vendors, external consulting partners, and outsourced service providers involved in AI initiatives, ensuring accountability and alignment with program objectives. Maintain portfolio-level oversight of schedules, budgets, and resource planning, with the ability to intervene to maintain alignment or stability. Use visual storytelling and presentation skills (PowerPoint) to distill complex technical progress into clear narratives that support alignment and decision-making. Provide regular portfolio updates using project tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Orchestra) and develop program scorecards tracking KPIs such as business impact, timeline, and budget variance. Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. Required: 10+ years of progressive experience in IT Project and Program Management, with at least 3+ years managing large, complex, multi-stream programs. Required: Minimum 8 years’ experience managing detailed project plans and leading teams in planning activities. Required: In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Project or similar tools. Required: Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint. Required: Effective verbal and written communication skills. Required: Experience managing projects in a team environment with proactive, self-starting leadership. Preferred: PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or other professional certifications. Preferred: Experience managing Data, Analytics, or AI/ML programs. Preferred: Experience in Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, or Biotech industries. Skills
