GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

The EAM Solutions Designer serves as a key liaison between Fleet & Facilities Division stakeholders, mid-management, and the IT resource team to enhance the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system's effectiveness and user experience. This position is responsible for designing and improving business processes, standardizing workflows, and ensuring seamless integration across applications to avoid redundancy and maximize efficiency. Working closely with the Manager of EAM and Systems, the Solutions Designer leads process improvement initiatives, translates operational needs into system requirements, and develops innovative project plans to support maintenance, asset, and data management goals. The role provides creative and technical direction to project teams, ensuring all designs, processes, and enhancements align with VIA's strategic objectives. The EAM Solutions Designer also oversees change management efforts, identifies potential risks, and ensures stakeholders adhere to timelines, quality standards, and divisional goals. This role requires strong analytical thinking, design acumen, and the ability to bridge technical systems with the best operational practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Designs, documents, and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support Fleet and Facilities EAM maintenance strategies and ensure compliance with FTA and NTD standards.

Evaluates and maps current processes to identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for improvement in system workflows and data utilization.

Leads testing, validation, and troubleshooting of maintenance management systems to ensure data integrity and operational reliability.

Collaborates with cross-functional teams and end-users to gather requirements, define project goals, and translate business needs into functional EAM solutions.

Develops and presents visual models, dashboards, and presentations that communicate design concepts and performance insights to project teams and stakeholders.

Coordinates project timelines, deliverables, and performance metrics to ensure milestones are achieved on schedule and within scope.

Supports system configuration, reporting, and analytics initiatives that drive efficiency and data-driven decision-making.

Advises leadership on system enhancements, integrations, and training needs to strengthen overall EAM adoption and usability.

Applies independent judgment and problem-solving skills to complex technical and operational challenges within established standards and policies.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field and five (5) years' of progressively responsible experience in system design, process improvement, or enterprise asset management. Experience may be substituted in lieu of education on a year-for-year basis up to four years.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Demonstrated expertise in data analysis, process design, and workflow optimization.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and database

management tools.

Working knowledge of mathematical and statistical techniques, including logical reasoning and

Boolean operators.

Familiarity with mechanical systems for vehicles and facilities, including maintenance processes,

component reliability, and safety standards.

Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.

Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments while maintaining confidentiality

and professionalism.

Must be able to maintain good work attendance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical ability required to be mobile, bend, stoop, stand, reach, and occasionally lift 5-25 pounds of objects, such as files, equipment and supplies, and books.
