
General Statement of Duties
Performs the skilled work on the journeyman level involving responsibility for difficult electrical maintenance and repair operations as well as installation work. Work is performed to prescribed standards and procedures subject to inspection by a supervisor.
Essential Duties
• Wires buildings and makes additions to existing wiring
• Installs and repairs fluorescent, industrial and general lighting fixtures and connections
• Installs and maintains remote control devices for magnetic motor connections
• Installs and replaces existing electrical panels, services, transformers, etc.
• Is available (required) for emergency calls on a stand-by basis (rotating with other electricians)
• Attends work daily and is engaged and on task
• Demonstrates self auditing practices in safety awareness and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or trade school, minimum of four years' electrical experience, and preferably four years' experience as a journeyman electrician. Possession of a journeyman electrician's certificate issued by the State of Virginia. Possession of a valid Commercial Virginia Motor Vehicle Operator's license. Must obtain a Class B vehicle license upon employment. Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, tools, and terminology of the electrical trade; skill in making repairs to complicated electric wiring, fixtures, motors and equipment; ability to read from blueprints. Good physical condition required. Ability to work at high altitudes, and under adverse temperature and weather conditions.

This is a 260 days, 8 hour per day position. Open until filled. Minimum salary is $49,521.91.
