Position Overview:
The Director, Value-Based Agreements (VBA) is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic development, negotiation, and management of all value-based arrangements and partnerships for the South Side Healthy Community Organization (SSHCO). This role is central to SSHCO's commitment to transforming health and scaling new models of care by securing and growing partnerships with Medicaid MCOs and other healthcare stakeholders. The Director of VBA reports to the VP of Population Health and plays a crucial role in driving the organization's long-term sustainability and mission to improve the health and well-being of our south side community.
Key Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Lead the strategy, development, and negotiation of all Value Based Arrangements (VBAs) with partners and Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), including Shared Savings and Pay-for-Performance agreements. Serve as the primary liaison for all MCO partnerships, developing and maintaining strong relationships. Collaborate with the VP of Population Health and other leaders to design and implement services that can be offered in a VBA, such as member outreach, care coordination, and population health management technology. Oversee the financial performance and contractual requirements of all VBAs, tracking outcomes and providing monthly updates that highlight key areas for improvement. Utilize data and analytics to inform negotiations, track financial performance, and ensure that VBAs are aligned with the organization's mission to drive health outcomes. Work with the care coordination and data teams to ensure that SSHCO's capabilities, such as identifying and activating hard-to-reach members, are effectively integrated into VBA models. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master's degree (MBA, MPH) is strongly preferred. A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in a leadership role, with a focus on value-based care, managed care, or healthcare business development. Demonstrated experience in negotiating and managing complex contracts with MCOs and/or health systems is essential. In-depth knowledge of value-based care models, healthcare finance, and Medicaid. Strong negotiation, business development, and relationship management skills. Ability to manage complex projects and translate strategic goals into actionable plans. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and financial models to drive decision-making.
