Primary Purpose:

Assist with the successful management of the district accounting processes.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in accounting/business/finance Special Knowledge/Skills:

Working knowledge of governmental financial reporting. Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills. Ability to use computer software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and prepare written documents. Ability to implement policy and procedures. Ability to interpret financial and operational data. Ability to assist with management of budget and personnel. Ability to coordinate district functions and support stakeholders. Experience:

Minimum two years of governmental accounting experience. Successful supervisory experience. Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Fiscal Management

Provide shared banking, investment and treasury management services. Maintain district's accounting ledger, including weekly check run, ad hoc journal vouchers, month-end closing procedures, and monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts. Prepare and compile monthly check register, revenue reports, and expenditure reports for Board of Trustees. Prepare and transmit annual IRS Form 1099s to payees and the Internal Revenue Service. Assist campuses and departments with questions related to coding, budget changes. Assist with year-end close. Assist auditors, prepare monthly and end of year closing adjustments. Provide leadership to achieve cost-effective accounting practices. Ensure that accounting operations support the district's goals and objectives. All other duties as assigned.

Policy, Reports, and Law

Implement policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in area of business operations. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.

Personnel Management Prepare, review, and revise accounting office job descriptions. Develop training options and/or improvement plans to ensure exemplary accounting operations. Evaluate job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness. Train, and supervise personnel and make sound recommendations related to personnel placement, assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff assigned to accounts payable disbursements, data storage, and receipting of funds.

Maintain emotional control under stress; Occasional district and statewide travel; occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Shared holiday banking and investing responsibilities off-site is a requirement of this position.
