Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, A Day in the Life of a Behavior Intervention Specialist: Provides behavioral services that are compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements.

Performs functional behavioral assessments of students; provides written recommendations to classroom staff.

Develops, reviews and revises written behavior support plans under supervision of a certified Psychologist or licensed Social Worker. Helps insure the integration, consistency and appropriateness of plans. Trains staff on how to implement the plans.

Provides training to staff in managing difficult behaviors and assists in crisis intervention.

Serves as a member of the building Support Team, providing consultation, relative to data collection, plan implementation and progress monitoring

Maintains confidentiality and respect for all students, their family members, and coworkers. Maintains appropriate professional and personal boundaries.

Who We Are Looking For: Master's degree from a program in clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology or applied psychology as it relates to human development and educational interventions and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development or BCBA national board certification and Master's degree in behavioral analysis or a field closely related to school psychology that is approved by NYSED or a NYS license in mental health counseling.

At least five years of experience working directly with children or individuals with developmental disabilities, including the development, implementation and monitoring of behavior intervention plans and/or providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavior intervention plans.

Must possess a current, New York State Driver's License.
