General Purpose

Under limited supervision, the Senior Director of Finance provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization's Finance Department and is responsible for the overall financial management, integrity, and sustainability of the organization. This position ensures effective financial controls, accurate and timely financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and sound financial practices across all programs and funding sources.

As a key member of the executive management team, the Senior Director of Finance partners with organizational leadership to develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and long-term plans that support the mission, operational goals, and fiscal health of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership & Strategy Provide overall leadership and direction for all finance functions, including general ledger, budgeting, purchasing, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, client benefits, revenue cycle, and the USDA Food Program Collaborate with executive leadership, department directors, and program teams to align financial strategy with organizational goals, support operational decision-making, and ensure the effective use of financial resources in support of the agency's mission. Participate in key organizational decisions as a member of the executive management team Develop, monitor, and direct the implementation of strategic goals and objectives for the Finance Department Prepare financial analyses and forecasts to support organizational planning and decision-making Accounting & Financial Reporting

Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Manage all fiscal reporting activities to ensure the Board of Directors and President/CEO receive timely and accurate financial information Oversee the general ledger and ensure proper accounting for all financial transactions Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and funding source requirements Continuously review and improve financial processes, systems, and reporting for efficiency and effectiveness Budgeting & Purchasing

Direct the development, implementation, and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets Oversee purchasing and procurement processes to ensure compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements Monitor budget performance and recommend corrective actions as needed Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Payroll

Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely payments, collections, and accurate recordkeeping Ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing, including tax filings and regulatory reporting Maintain internal controls related to cash handling, payroll, and disbursements Client Programs

Oversee client benefits administration to ensure accurate billing, reporting, and compliance with OIDD directives Oversee administration and compliance of the USDA Food Program, including financial reporting and audits Compliance, Audits & Risk Management

Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures Ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements are met, including charitable status, payroll filings, and grant compliance Coordinate and manage all external financial audits and related activities Oversee general liability, property, and other insurance programs Systems, Process Improvement & Relationships

Maintain and oversee financial and payroll software systems capable of handling complex transactions Develop and maintain relationships with auditors, banks, funding agencies, and other third-party partners Prepare correspondence and confer with state and federal representatives regarding fiscal matters Other Duties

Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of the organization Working Conditions

Work is performed in a typical office setting. Work in excess of 40 hours may be required in a given workweek in order to meet deadlines. Travel is rarely required.

Supervision

The Senior Director of Finance reports to the Executive Vice President.

Typical Physical Demands:

Sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, frequent lifting, and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Must have normal range of hearing and vision.

Typical Mental Demands:

Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Formulate decisions and act upon them. Adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas. Communicate with various personalities at all levels. Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information.

Hazards/Potential Hazards:

Cleaning chemicals, ergonomic hazards: i.e. static postures, repetitive motion, trip hazards such as file drawers and electrical wires and computer equipment.

Qualifications

Master's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field with seven (7) years of progressively responsible financial experience;

or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business with ten (10) years of professional accounting experience, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or administrative capacity Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Demonstrated experience managing general ledger, budgeting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions Experience with payroll processing and knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop financial data and recommendations influencing long-term organizational decisions Advanced computer proficiency, including accounting, payroll, and financial reporting systems, and Microsoft Office products Proven ability to manage, develop, and lead professional staff Ability and willingness to work a minimum 40-hour work week with extended hours as needed to meet deadlines, audits, and month-end close requirements Preferred Qualifications

CPA or CPA candidate Experience with Financial Edge and Paycom Knowledge of Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD) funding and reporting requirements Experience with nonprofit or governmental accounting
