
ASCP Epic Principal Trainer - Surgery/Lab

Join a dynamic healthcare system in the Midwest region as an Epic Principal Trainer (PT) specializing in Surgery and Lab modules. This role leads the Electronic Health Record (EHR) training program by designing innovative curricula, including virtual and eLearning formats. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong collaboration, coaching, project management, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage Epic training environment builds and maintenance, implement change requests, educate staff on updates, review release notes, and prepare for system upgrades. Consult with department leaders and frontline staff to identify performance gaps and develop tailored learning interventions using best practices and instructional design principles. Interpret clinical and non-clinical workflows and terminology to create effective training content. Deliver both virtual and classroom-based training sessions, preparing lesson plans, materials, and documentation. Support continuous improvement by sharing Epic application expertise with teammates and fostering collaboration. Provide additional educational support outside the classroom as needed. Education
A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred; a High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
3-5 years of Epic experience is preferred.
Requirements
Epic certification or accreditation is preferred and must be obtained within 90 days of completing required Epic training. Clinical licensure or healthcare experience in a relevant area is advantageous. Ability to maintain mental concentration for extended periods with frequent interruptions. Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, and light lifting (up to 15 lbs.). Work environment includes typical office conditions with potential noise, distractions, and occasional exposure to infectious diseases. Flexibility to work unusual hours when resolving department issues may be necessary.
