Job Description
The Estimator - Large Scale Projects - Herndon, VA will be responsible for:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates across all trades. Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and leadership to ensure estimates reflect realworld conditions, field experience, and management approach. Solicit subcontractor pricing, evaluate proposals, confirm scope coverage, and maintain strong working relationships with qualified vendors and trade partners. Prepare conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates for commercial, industrial, interiors, etc. Identify scope gaps, risks, constructability issues, and valueengineering opportunities. Develop and maintain cost data, unit pricing, and historical project information to support future estimates. Attend prebid meetings, site walks, and internal coordination sessions to fully understand project requirements. Assist in developing complete, polished bid proposals including clarifications, exclusions, schedules, and narratives. Work with the preconstruction team to support feasibility studies, budgeting, and earlystage client discussions. Help ensure all estimating work is consistent with client's standards for safety, quality, integrity, and client satisfaction. Experience in estimating for a general contractor (commercial or industrial construction preferred). Experience working on large-scale new construction projects ($30M - $500M+) Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and field operations Ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and evaluate subcontractor proposals. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with clients, consultants, subs, and internal teams. Proficiency with estimating software and standard construction tools. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problemsolving ability. What's on Offer
