POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Annual Fund is an integral part of the energetic, fast-paced and collegial Development Office and the External Relation Department which includes alumni relations, communications, admissions and fundraising. This person is responsible for continuing the growth and success of the Annual Fund by implementing year-round strategies that will increase revenue for the School, increase the engagement from each of the school's constituencies, and recruit and collaborate with volunteers effectively. This person will also support the Director of Development with major gift and leadership level initiatives as needed. Evening and weekend work is expected. All Milken employees are educators, admission officers, and fundraisers and support the teaching staff, Admission, and Development offices. This position reports to the Director of Development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Annual Fund Lead the Annual Fund campaign to meet the School's fundraising goals. Work closely with the Director of Development and members of the Development team to design the strategy, theme/messaging, and timeline for the Annual Fund to increase revenue, deepen engagement across all constituencies, and recruit additional volunteers. Recruit, retain, train, manage, and steward Annual Fund volunteers. Plan and lead committee meetings and partner closely with the Development Chair to execute a successful campaign. Manage a portfolio of mid-level prospects ($1,800-$10,000), guiding them through the full lifecycle of engagement - cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and ongoing relationship management. Organize and help produce all Annual Fund materials and communications, including writing appeals and managing the design process for signage, electronic communications, print materials, and other collateral. Research families and organize Annual Fund assignments with specific ask amounts and solicitor pairings. Collaborate closely with the Database Lead to provide reports on Annual Fund performance, metrics, statistics, and year-end tax receipts. Coordinate the development calendar with fundraising events and initiatives. Plan and execute all details of Development events, including goal and strategy creation, pre-event logistics, agenda development, recruitment, staffing, on-site execution, data management, and post-event follow-up. Events include Giving Tuesday, Visionary Circle, Grandparents Day, State of the School, and more. Lead the Giving Tuesday strategy, including volunteer coordination, pre-event build-up, matching challenges, incentives, and day-of activations (carline rally, phone sessions, staff lunch, and evening event). Major Gifts Assist the Director of Development in creating and implementing plans for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects and donors. Assist with the production and organization of major gift materials and communications. Cultivate major donor prospects as assigned. Provide reporting, donor research, and strategic support for the capital campaign. Prepare yearly impact reports for donors who give $25,000+. Ensure that all gifts are credited appropriately in the accounting system, including recording pledge payments and managing pledge reminders. Assist in planning and staffing larger External Relations events as needed. Participate in team projects (such as large mailings). Participate in External Relations & community events, forming relationships with employees and parents. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
Appreciation for and ability to clearly articulate the mission of Milken Community School. Excellent interpersonal communications skills and strong writing experience required. A Bachelor's degree and at least 4-6 years relevant experience in fundraising, preferably in education. Frontline fundraising experience required. Independent school and/or Jewish communal experience is a plus. Strong aptitude for technology including software, database, social media, or web-based applications in support of non-profit and/or development work. Experience with Raiser's Edge is preferred. Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, with ability to manage multiple projects at once. Strong self-motivation and the ability to work as a team member. Enjoys problem-solving, embraces flexibility, takes initiative, is a critical thinker, a collaborator, and creative. Highest integrity and commitment to confidentiality, diplomacy, discretion, and tact. The ability to work both independently and as a team player.
Standard On-Campus Hours Start: M - F by 8 AM End: M -Th 4 PM, F 3:00 PM 2-4 nights/weekends per month *All schedules are subject to change.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000
