Acoustical Sheetmetal Company (ASC) is a leading industrial manufacturing company specializing in packaging systems for back-up power generators. With a strong focus on precision sheet metal fabrication, sound attenuation, and integrated mechanical/electrical systems, ASC delivers high-quality, custom-engineered solutions to power and infrastructure clients across the U.S.

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to manage and optimize the procurement of materials, components, and services for our generator enclosure manufacturing operations. This role supports projects serving data centers, infrastructure, universities, and other mission-critical facilities.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on purchasing experience with

steel, aluminum, insulation, and related fabrication materials , and will coordinate material deliveries in alignment with

production schedules and project timelines . This position requires close collaboration with production, engineering, and project management to ensure materials are available when needed without excess inventory.

The Purchasing Agent will also be responsible for

maintaining accurate, up-to-date inventory records

for materials stored both

in-house and at supplier-managed locations , supporting effective planning, forecasting, and cost control. The successful candidate is self-directed, detail-oriented, and capable of making sound purchasing decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

• Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, components, and services to support production and project schedules.

• Manage supplier relationships, pricing, lead times, and quality performance.

• Coordinate with engineering, production, project management, and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely purchasing.

• Review drawings, BOMs, and specifications to ensure correct materials are procured.

• Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing needs to avoid shortages or excess stock.

• Evaluate vendors and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

• Resolve purchasing issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing discrepancies.

• Maintain accurate purchasing records, documentation, and reports.

Requirements

• 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities

• Experience with QuickBooks systems

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Inventory Systems

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Proven ability to work effectively with diverse teams and external partners

• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail

Preferred:

• Experience in industrial manufacturing

• Experience in the metals or fabrication industry is a strong plus

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred but not required

• Familiarity with manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and production workflows

Work Environment:

• Manufacturing and office environment

• Interaction with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams across multiple departments

• Industrial warehouse/manufacturing floor with exposure to machinery, noise, and fluctuating temperatures

• Must wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety protocols
