About the Role
The Financial Director plays an essential role in shaping the institution's financial trajectory by designing and maintaining a dynamic, multi-year financial model that can adapt to evolving circumstances. This position involves staying up-to-date with news, state legislature updates, and educational board meetings to accurately forecast and communicate financial implications to various stakeholders. The successful candidate will lead a principled budgeting process, oversee budget development, and rigorously evaluate spending requests throughout the fiscal year.
The Financial Director will ensure the precision of financial calculations, monitor compliance submissions, and conduct budget-to-actual analyses across the organization. This role includes spearheading strategic financial analysis and managing internal controls for the accounting team, while presenting comprehensive reports to the finance committee.
To excel in this position, candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, with an MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred. We seek individuals with a minimum of five to ten years of experience in a senior finance or accounting role, ideally within a nonprofit environment. The ideal candidate will be technologically adept, capable of efficiently managing large sets of financial data and developing systems to meet operational and financial deadlines.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are crucial, enabling the Financial Director to translate complex financial concepts into understandable terms for individuals at all levels, both within and outside the finance discipline.
