Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support preconstruction and bidding efforts across a variety of construction projects. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing bid documentation, coordinating subcontractor pricing, and supporting the full estimating lifecycle from pre-bid through project handoff. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and experience working with construction drawings, specifications, and estimating software.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed estimates, bid packages, and supporting documentation for construction projects
Review plans and specifications to develop accurate scopes of work and identify potential risks or gaps
Perform quantity takeoffs, material pricing, labor estimates, and general condition cost analysis
Develop and manage Schedule of Values (SOV) and bid breakdowns
Coordinate subcontractor and vendor bid solicitation, RFQs, and addenda distribution
Analyze subcontractor quotes for accuracy, scope alignment, and competitiveness
Participate in pre-bid meetings and site walks; document site conditions and constructability concerns
Track bid progress and communicate status updates to the Director of Project Controls
Assist with bid leveling, proposal preparation, and bid submission
Support project handoff meetings and collaborate with project management teams after award
Maintain organized estimate files, takeoffs, and historical cost data
Participate in estimating department meetings and continuous process improvement efforts
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent construction experience
5+ years of estimating experience (7–10 years for senior-level consideration)
Strong understanding of construction methods, design documents, cost controls, and financial principles
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts
Working knowledge of procurement processes and basic contract law
Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam, OST, PlanSwift, Sage, HCSS, or WinEst
Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Valid driver's license
