The Role
To support the significant growth as part of our multi-year strategy, Suffolk is hiring a Senior Director to build a best-in-class executive and senior leadership recruiting discipline within the Talent Acquisition function. This role is designed for a talent leader who brings strong executive search expertise, sound judgement, and the ability to influence at the highest levels across the enterprise.
In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, owning end-to-end executive sourcing and recruiting, while shaping talent strategy for critical, high-impact roles. You will partner closely with our VP of Talent Strategy and the HR Business Partner team to align talent needs with a strategy to identify, engage, and close top-tier leadership talent, while delivering a best-in-class candidate and stakeholder experience.

This role is based out of the Boston Headquarters location with a hybrid work schedule (4 days onsite/1 day remote).
The expected compensation for this position (Senior Director, Executive Recruiting) in Boston, MA is between $200,000 - $285,000 base salary.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute executive and senior-level recruiting strategy across the organization, managing the full lifecycle from sourcing through offer and close
Partner closely with the Executive Team, Senior Leaders and HR Business Partners to understand long‑term business strategy, leadership needs, and succession considerations
Develop a strategic, robust sourcing strategy that allows Suffolk to identify top talent in the market, assess their experiences and capabilities, and build relationships
Identify, engage, and cultivate relationships with passive, high‑impact executive talent through targeted scouting, sourcing, networking, and relationship‑based search strategies
Act as a strategic thought partner to TA and hiring leaders, developing compelling position profiles, advising on talent market dynamics, and setting realistic expectations around timing, compensation, and candidate availability
Deliver data‑informed insights and strong, well‑reasoned recommendations to hiring teams to support high‑quality hiring decisions
Develop a robust communication/marketing strategy to articulate the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to attract high‑caliber executive candidates in talent markets
Partner with Suffolk’s Marketing and Communications departments to build talent attraction strategies around company growth, news, awards, wins for campaigning outreach
Build and maintain robust executive talent pipelines aligned to current and future business priorities
Manage and influence external executive search partners as needed, ensuring alignment with internal standards, candidate experience expectations, and outcomes
Ensure a best‑in‑class candidate experience, maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and high‑touch engagement throughout the process
Leverage recruiting technology, market intelligence, and data to drive efficiency, transparency, and continuous improvement
Maintain strong ATS data integrity and proactively share meaningful, data‑driven updates with executive stakeholders
Establish credibility and trusted relationships across the business through integrity, discretion, and consistent delivery
Attract and hire diversity at the executive level to reflect organizational values and the growing complexity of the business
Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure a best‑in‑class onboarding of hired candidates
Deliver against ambitious hiring goals in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment
Sponsor, Host, and/or attend Suffolk related events and A/E/C conferences to network with key talent and showcase our leadership career opportunities

Qualifications
10–15+ years of full lifecycle recruiting experience, with a minimum of 5 years of executive and senior leadership recruiting required. Combination of Executive Search firm and In‑house Executive Recruiting servicing the A/E/C industry preferred
Bachelor’s degree required
Proven experience partnering with executive leaders and navigating complex, high‑stakes searches
Demonstrated ability to influence, advise, and challenge senior stakeholders with confidence and credibility
Deep expertise in executive sourcing, passive candidate engagement, and relationship‑based recruiting
Experience managing and directing external executive search firms
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Highly detail‑oriented with strong organizational and follow‑through skills
Ability to make sound decisions quickly and confidently in ambiguous environments
Collaborative, positive, and service‑oriented approach
Ability to travel on occasion to industry events, regional office visits, executive meetings, and candidate connects (10‑15%)
