Person County Government is recruiting a Community Employment Specialist to join the Person County Recycling Center at Person Industries. This position plays a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities by providing individualized, person-centered employment services that promote meaningful, competitive employment and long-term job success. The Community Employment Specialist works directly with individuals to identify strengths, interests, and employment goals, and provides support to help them obtain, maintain, and succeed in employment settings. This role also involves collaborating with employers, community partners, and internal staff to create inclusive and supportive work opportunities.

This position operates under general supervision and requires the ability to work independently. The Community Employment Specialist is responsible for developing effective work methods, organizing and prioritizing tasks, and determining appropriate service strategies to meet individual and program needs. Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy. This is a non-exempt position working 40 hours weekly/2080 hours annually. Essential Functions

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Conduct vocational assessments to identify participant strengths, interests, skills, and support needs Implement person-centered employment plans Provide job readiness training, including workplace behavior, communication, and self-advocacy Assist participants with job search activities, applications, and interviews Develop and maintain relationships with employers to create customized employment opportunities Provide on-site job coaching, task training, and fading of supports to promote independence Support participants with workplace accommodations and assistive strategies Monitor job performance and address workplace challenges proactively Collaborate with employers, families, therapists, and service providers Provide follow-along and retention services to ensure long-term employment success Maintain accurate case notes, service logs, and required documentation in compliance with regulatory standards Coordinate services with employers, families, and community partners Support job retention Performs related work as assigned Travel to job sites and community locations Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High School Graduation or GED equivalent. Two (2) years of experience working with persons with disabilities or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Special Certifications and Licenses

Ability to obtain and maintain physical crisis prevention intervention certifications. Ability to obtain and maintain certifications in CPR and First Aid. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. Person County conducts pre-employment screening on candidates. NC STATE RETIREMENT SYSTEM Employee contributes 6% of pre-tax salary and county contributes 14.39% for county employees and 16.08% for law enforcement effective 7/1/2024.

LONGEVITY PAY Based on years of service 1 year, but less than 5 years - .50% of annual salary 5 years, but less than 10 years - 1% of annual salary 10 years, but less than 15 years - 2% of annual salary 15 years, but less than 20 years - 3.25% of annual salary 20 years, but less than 25 years - 4.5% of annual salary 25 years or more - 5.75% of annual salary

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM Employees may be reimbursed for eligible expenses up to a total of eight hundred dollars ($2,500) per fiscal year

CERTIFICATIONS 1.5% salary increase per advanced certification pertaining to the job

DIRECT DEPOSIT Person County Government employees are paid bi-weekly with Direct Deposit

WELLNESS PROGRAMS

COUNTY EMPLOYEE GYM $25 membership fee per year for full-time or $50 for part-time public safety employees at the Sheriff's Dept. or EMS whose position requires you to be "fit for duty".
