We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director - Campus & Facilities Strategic Planning. The
Sr. Director, Campus and Facilities Strategic Planning , will lead strategic initiatives relating to the planning, development, and optimization of the NYU Langone Health System physical campus and facilities portfolio. This position serves as a critical thought leader, responsible for envisioning long-term strategies that align facilities planning and infrastructure investments with organizational objectives. The ideal candidate will have deep experience working for a large, complex and matrixed organization, preferably in an academic medical center or similar setting, and will combine exceptional leadership and project management skills with expertise in strategic planning and workplace design to enhance operational efficiency and drive innovation. Success in this role will require the development of strong working partnerships within the integrated RED+F team and effective collaboration with leaders and stakeholders in other NYULH departments. This position will oversee RED+F's planning group, including medical, research, education and administrative planning, space management and clinical equipment planning functions. Job Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement multi-year strategic plans for campus and facilities growth, improvement, and allocation based on organizational priorities supporting NYULH’s tripartite mission areas of Patient Care, Education and Research Identify opportunities to improve facility performance, optimize space utilization, and align infrastructure decisions with current and future business needs Forecast campus capacity and recommend expansion or renovation projects to support organizational goals Collaborate with RED+F Design and Construction, Real Estate and Facilities Operations leadership in developing strategic plans and initiatives Facilities and Campus Space Management: Manage NYU Langone's portfolio of space across all campuses and facilities, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and alignment with company objectives Oversee the development of space allocation plans, ensuring functional, cost-effective utilization for work areas, collaboration spaces, and amenities Monitor key metrics related to facility performance, operational costs, sustainability initiatives, and occupancy levels Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with executives, leaders, and stakeholders across departments (Hospital Operations, Office of Science and Research, HR, Finance, MCIT) to integrate facilities planning into broader organizational strategies Engage with RED+F leadership and design teams to coordinate planning activities with project delivery timelines and budget constraints Collaborate with RED+F sustainability team to ensure facilities planning supports environmental, energy efficiency, and waste reduction initiatives Budget and Financial Oversight: Lead annual and long-term budgeting efforts for campus and facilities planning projects Conduct financial analyses, feasibility studies, and cost modeling to inform strategic decisions about facilities investments Leadership and Team Development: Build, lead, and mentor a team of planners, space data managers and other facilities professionals Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability across the team Provide regular reports and updates on campus and facilities initiatives to senior leadership Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Architecture, Business Administration, or a related field. 15 years of experience in campus planning, facilities and real estate strategy, with proven track record of leading large-scale strategic initiatives. 5 years on the owner side of the business leading strategic and facilities planning activities within a large health care organization. Proficient in facilities planning tools, sustainability practices, and data-driven decision-making. Strong knowledge of project management, budgeting principles, and space planning software.
