National High Magnetic Field Laboratory - Facilities Responsibilities

Manage a comprehensive lab wide preventative maintenance program to include troubleshooting and directing maintenance and repair of NHMFL mechanical systems including plumbing, deionized water, chilled water, house vacuum, domestic water, compressed air, house nitrogen, power supply cooling water, magnet cooling water, condensed water, water treatment skid, cryogenic systems and irrigation. Maintain NHMFL facility mechanical equipment files. Supervise mechanical crew and pipefitter/welder crew. Ensure compliance with university and OSHA safety rules/laws, ensure compliance with university/NHMFL/Facilities personnel policies and procedures, identify and provide training opportunities for personnel and lead safety expectations for crews. Manage work order database for mechanical techs and pipefitters/welders. Ensure that jobs are planned out and material ordered to ensure efficient execution of work by mechanical and pipefitter/welder crews. Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and construction material inventory. Participate as a member of the design review committee, providing creative solutions and constructive criticism of NHMFL projects. Manage contractors relevant to areas of responsibility. Interface with university personnel on improvements/repairs to NHMFL mechanical systems. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and nine years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to thirteen years. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.) Candidates with an additional three years of related experience will be considered for levels V-VI.
