Overview

AAA The Auto Club Group is hiring a Field Auto Appraiser. This position is located in Lansing, Michigan and reports to the Claim Manager II. The role may be remote for day-to-day operations with travel to field locations as necessary to complete job responsibilities. Travel for meetings or team activities may be required as specified by leadership and subject to the ACG Flex Work policy. What you will do (Primary Duties & Responsibilities)

Handle complex technical claims with minimal supervision and high-level authority. Review assigned claims, contact insureds and other parties, set expectations for the claim process, and document in the claims system. Perform complex coverage analysis and identify all possible policyholder benefits. Create sub-claims when needed and conduct detailed investigations to determine payment decisions, applicable limits or exclusions, and potential recoveries. Review damages, evaluate state law applicability, and assess factors related to the claim. Evaluate loss value, approve payments to appropriate parties, and refer claims to other units when necessary (e.g., Underwriting, Recovery Units, or Claims SIU). Document and code the claim file, and complete closure and related activities in the claims management system with strong negotiating skills. Auto Physical Damage (APD) responsibilities include handling complex claims involving total losses, vehicle inspections, and damage estimates. In the Direct Repair Shop (DRS) Examiner role, manage shops for program compliance. Additional duties may include determining cause of damage, establishing liability, subrogation potential, monitoring repairs, and approving car rental expenses. Oversee APD litigation cases, manage attorney and budget aspects, participate in mediations, and determine settlement positions. May assist the Claim Manager with file reviews and training. Compensation includes a competitive salary in the range of $78,000–$85,000 annually with annual bonus potential based on performance. Benefits include a comprehensive package: 401k Match, Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Paid Holidays, Tuition Reimbursement. Qualifications

Required Qualifications (minimum requirements) Education and Licensing: Complete ACG Claim Representative Training Program or equivalent knowledge/experience If required by state, eligible to acquire a State Adjuster’s license within 90 days of hire and maintain it per state requirements Valid State Driver's License Experience: Three years of experience or equivalent training in claim handling, including negotiation of settlements, securing and evaluating evidence, preparing estimates, subrogation, resolving coverage questions, taking statements, and establishing evaluation and resolution plans Knowledge and Skills: Advanced knowledge of Michigan Essential Insurance Act, Fair Trade Practices Act related to claims, subrogation procedures, intercompany arbitration, and handling simple litigation Knowledge of Negligence Law, No-Fault Law, and collision repair techniques Ability to: Handle claims to Claim Handling Standards and apply ACG policies and procedures Use ACG Claim systems and basic PC software Perform claim file reviews and investigations Demonstrate verbal and written communication, customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Prioritize claim-related functions and manage time effectively Safely operate a motor vehicle to visit repair facilities, homes, patients, etc. Research and interpret subrogation laws across states Travel outside assigned territory (overnight may be required) and relocate/work evenings or weekends Preferred Qualifications Education: Associate degree in Business Administration, Insurance or related field or equivalent work experience Completion of Insurance Institute of America programs or equivalents (General Insurance, Associate in Claims, Associate in Management) CPCU coursework or designation, I-Car ProLevel, CCC, Xactware training Work Environment

May work in an office or remote setting. Travel to various facilities may be required for inspections and related activities, with exposure to road hazards and temperature extremes. For Homeowners and CAT roles, deployment to storm-impacted territories may occur. Important Note
