LA Community Lead

Pickle, Los Angeles, California, United States, 90079

Save Job

Overview About Pickle: Pickle is a peer-to-peer rental marketplace unlocking the value of the billions of underutilized items sitting in consumers’ closets. We make it easy to rent high-quality items exactly when you need them — with fast, convenient fulfillment and an on-demand experience that’s as seamless as shopping. Pickle is a new kind of commerce layer powered by dynamic local supply. We are live nationwide and scaling rapidly in key local markets including NYC, LA, and Miami. Our marketplace features 300K+ items listed for rent. We’re building the future of access-driven shopping with an on-demand model and no subscriptions.

About The Job: We are looking for a market leader to drive expansion and growth in the LA market. LA is our second launch market after NYC. We’ve launched it from 0 to 1 and are looking for someone to own scaling it from 1 to 100. This role requires deep understanding of the LA landscape and the Pickle demographic within LA. The candidate should be passionate about Pickle, scaling communities, driving GTM strategies, and executing growth initiatives. You will set strategy for organic and paid marketing initiatives in the LA market and oversee marketing campaigns, community events, and strategic partnerships. You must be proficient in data analysis to monitor and measure LA market growth on both supply and demand sides.

Responsibilities

Own and execute LA demand growth initiatives, working closely with the VP of Markets to drive expansion of the LA market

Build and nurture a thriving community of renters in LA, strengthening loyalty and increasing repeat rentals through ongoing engagement

Develop and execute community-led growth strategies including:

events and activations

local partnerships (brands, gyms/studios, campuses, stylists, boutiques, etc.)

ambassador programs and community champions

creator/influencer collaborations

Drive word-of-mouth and UGC: create scalable programs that inspire content, referrals, and community flywheels

Drive customer conversion: monitor new user behavior and demand signals; nurture new users to first rent through high-touch efforts and help operationalize what works

Identify and cultivate power users in LA — build relationships with top renters and develop them into ambassadors and repeat customers

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align local initiatives with product launches, brand moments, and growth priorities

Be our internal expert on LA community, culture, and demographic behaviors — continuously bring insights and opportunities back to the team

Track and report on LA performance metrics tied to demand: user growth, conversion rate and time to first rental, repeat/successful renter rate, local engagement and retention

Help build and document playbooks from LA wins to support future market launches

Qualifications

3–5 years of experience in community, marketing, partnerships, GTM, or growth roles — ideally in consumer tech, marketplaces, or app-first businesses

Experience driving demand generation through community-led initiatives (events, ambassadors, partnerships, creator/influencer programs, local activations, etc.)

Proven ability to activate and engage a local community, building trust and brand affinity while translating that community into measurable demand

Strong executional muscle — energized by hands-on work and able to move quickly from idea to launch to iteration

Comfortable working with lean budgets and prioritizing high-impact, scrappy growth tactics (organic-first, supplemented by targeted paid)

Solid analytical foundation — able to track and interpret KPIs (signups, conversion, activation, engagement) and adjust strategy based on performance

Results-driven with a high ownership mindset; sets ambitious goals, builds repeatable playbooks, and follows through

Strong interpersonal skills — building relationships, showing up in the community, and representing Pickle in LA

Excellent communication, organization, and accountability — able to work with Alex (based in NYC) and operate independently on the ground

Passion for fashion, culture, and circularity strongly preferred

Experience in a startup or high-growth environment is a plus
