Job Description
This role is ideal for a performance-driven seller with a strong grasp of programmatic strategy, agency workflows, and DSP activation. You will support priority revenue initiatives, develop custom PMP and PG solutions, and serve as a trusted partner to buyers across major holding companies and independent agencies. You will report to the Director of Programmatic Sales and collaborate closely with programmatic strategy, operations, analytics, and product teams. In this role, you will also be cross trained across both Hearst Newspapers and Hearst Television digital assets to support sales across both divisions. Key Responsibilities
Revenue Growth & Sales Strategy:
Drive national programmatic and direct digital revenue across Hearst News. Build and manage a pipeline of agencies and brands, unlocking both net-new spend and incremental budget. Develop custom proposals, marketplace packages, and revenue-driving deal structures aligned to client KPIs. Partner with programmatic leadership to execute short- and long-term strategic priorities and product positioning. Client, Agency & Partner Engagement:
Cultivate strong relationships with programmatic buyers, digital strategists, and senior agency stakeholders. Act as day-to-day contact for deal set-up, activation, pacing, and reporting. Work closely with DSP and SSP partners (The Trade Desk, DV360, Magnite, Xandr, etc.) to ensure seamless delivery. Deliver data-driven performance narratives, market insights, and optimization strategies. Programmatic Execution & Performance:
Manage PMP and PG campaigns from planning to post-campaign wrap. Partner with Ops, Yield, and Data teams to ensure pacing, delivery, and KPI achievement. Analyze performance results and translate insights into clear recommendations. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Partnership:
Coordinate with Product, Audience, Editorial, and Analytics teams to align on deal strategy and inventory opportunities. Support RFP responses, pitch materials, and strategic client presentations. Surface client feedback and marketplace learnings to inform pricing, packaging, and product development. What Success Looks Like:
Own and grow a defined agency book with clear revenue targets. Consistently deliver PMP and PG revenue growth across Newspapers and Television. Become a trusted partner to advertisers and industry decision makers. Qualifications & Experience
3–5 years of experience in digital media sales, working with agency teams, or programmatic account management. Experience working directly with DSPs (e.g., The Trade Desk, DV360, Xandr) or within an agency programmatic team strongly preferred. Deep understanding of PMP, PG, and open exchange dynamics, including audience segmentation and deal troubleshooting. Proven ability to manage multiple campaigns, prioritize effectively, and meet or exceed revenue goals. Strong analytical, presentation, and Excel skills, with the ability to translate data into compelling client narratives. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and client teams. In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York State. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York State, is $90,000-110,000 base plus additional incentives based on individual performance. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York State. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York State, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location.
