Job Summary The Sales and Service Specialist is a member of both the commercial and field service staff. The Sales and Service Specialist will report to the Regional Sales Manager to increase sales at existing accounts in addition to identifying new products, services, markets, and customers to pursue. This position will service accounts to keep equipment operational through repair and maintenance along with installation of new systems as needed. Regular interactions with customers, prospects, vendors, and co-workers to provide required service and communication aimed to support ongoing and new business. The primary focus will be within the Southeastern US.
Responsibilities
Sales/Growth Initiatives:
Develop short and long-term strategies to sustain ongoing business and hit targets for expected growth. Execute coordinated plans and deliver on targeted growth. Handle all commodities from vegetables, apples, stone fruit, citrus and melons.
Account Management:
Interface with account managers and other key personnel at customer locations to ensure product and service satisfaction. Provide feedback to Decco managers and others to keep the team informed of field activities. Maintain proper inventories to facilitate Decco treatments at customer locations.
Forecasting:
Provide forecast by customer and product for ongoing and new business. Must be completed monthly and updated as market shifts occur.
Commercial/Operational Excellence:
Deliver optimum performance on financial and operational metrics such as contribution margin, structural costs, product performance, and equipment functionality. Ensure highest level of customer satisfaction.
Portfolio & Processing Knowledge:
Become an expert on the product portfolio and services offered by Decco. Develop a strong understanding of the treatment and handling of commodities during the postharvest phase.
Equipment Design/Fabrication:
Able to design, construct, maintain, and operate product mixing, handling, and application equipment.
Problem Solving:
Demonstrate ability to diagnose and troubleshoot pumps, motors, control cabinets, and other machinery to return to proper working order. Work through various situations to achieve results with teams, supervisors, and customers.
Professional Deliverables:
Construct documents for presenting to customers, industry personnel, intercompany partners and leaders. Present professionally to individuals or groups. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all sales and service activities for reporting purposes.
Required Education, Skills, Abilities, and Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in repair, maintenance, and operation of machinery
Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office programs
Hand and power tool skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in building and maintaining customer relationships
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Skills, Abilities, and Experience
Business-to-Business sales experience
Knowledge of fruit and vegetable postharvest handling practices
Prior experience in making business presentations
Knowledge of operating pumping and mixing equipment
Metal welding and cutting experience
Physical Requirements Heavy lifting and moving required, ability to complete 90% of job duties while standing, both indoors and outdoors. Long periods of driving.
Location Preferably Central Texas
Travel Approximately 10%. Mainly day trips within assigned territory, with occasional overnight stays and visits to other regions of the US as needed to accomplish goals of the annual plan.
