Role: As a Banking Service Professional, the Personal Banker will provide effective support of sales and service activities within the banking office, develop new business by educating existing and potential clients, and exemplify Valley’s quality service standards. The Personal Banker provides a variety of banking solutions by analyzing needs, recommending solutions and selling bank products and services to existing and potential clients. Performs a variety of routine banking transactions (teller and platform), while supporting the Market Manager in achieving quality service and complying with operational procedures.

Job Description Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley's mission statement. Engage customers with friendly and professional service.
Know and educate customers on all bank products and services; cross-sell as appropriate.
Present a confident and professional demeanor to establish trust; analyze needs and recommend appropriate products and services.
Meet with customers to analyze financial needs and maximize sales opportunities. Open new accounts (checking, savings, CDs, IRAs) and discuss/sell loan products; promote online and mobile banking.
Meet customer expectations and achieve service quality standards. Participate in and oversee the sales referral process; assist management in coaching and mentoring branch staff.
Perform transactions required by customers and use technology to provide services; maintain and balance a cash box. Use Teller Scanning Equipment, Cash Recycling and Cash Dispensing machines and support customers in the use of Coin Machines.
Act as Vault Teller ensuring branch cash adequacy and assist with ordering and distributing cash within prescribed limits.
Assist in community events and CRA initiatives, activities and programs.
Report significant matters, issues, and unusual customer activity to Manager; maintain knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements.
Maintain knowledge and compliance with the Bank’s Code of Conduct and all policies and procedures.
Requirements Required Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to demonstrate products and services to customers.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers and employees.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills to resolve complex customer issues.
Ability to make on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions; weigh customer satisfaction against bank risk.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and convey information clearly.
Deep understanding of Retail Banking and strong customer service skills to engage customers in conversation about products and services.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient computer skills.
Required Experience:
High School diploma or GED and minimum 1 year of business services experience in branch banking or successful completion of a Valley Retail training program.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting, business, finance, economics or related field is preferred.
Preferred Experience:
FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions).
