Overview
Safe Children Coalition is currently looking to expand their existing Fatherhood Initiative Program. The Fatherhood Initiative promotes father-child engagement, provides safeguards to prevent encounters with the child welfare system, provides supportive services for fathers who are actively engaged with the Department of Children and Families, and provides follow up services post reunification or establishment of child visitation. The Father Engagement Specialist will build relationships with our fathers and local providers to help identify the needs of fathers, assist in accessing services, addressing the gaps identified in services and to communicate about the challenges faced by these fathers and how to appropriately meet their unique needs. The new position will bolster outreach efforts across Manatee, Sarasota, and Desoto counties and the ability to broaden services to engage teenage fathers who are approaching adulthood through the provision of education, life skills and mentorship services.
Purpose The Specialist shall ensure the unique needs of fathers of children who are served by SCC by engagement and provision of and referral to father-oriented services.
Responsibilities
Conduct initial assessments and engage with fathers.
Provision of and referral to father-oriented services for fathers of children who are served by the lead agency.
Build relationships with fathers, help identify their needs and assist in accessing services.
Communicate with the lead agency about the challenges faced by these fathers and how to appropriately meet their unique needs.
Engage with fathers on how to establish positive, stable relationships with their children; and assisting fathers in receiving needed services.
Assess safety and well-being of children and their families.
Collaborate with community partners to connect fathers to other resources in the community which are identified through their initial assessment as well as through their case plan tasks.
Enhance fathers’ ability to create stable and nurturing home environments that promote healthy child development.

Qualifications EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in social work or human services related field is preferred. Minimum of two years of child welfare or human services experience preferred.
