Centex Construction is bolstering its interior renovations team by adding an Interior Purchasing Specialist focused on procurement for all interior jobs. This tactical role bridges the gap between project management and vendor supply, ensuring that interior renovation projects have the right materials at the right time and cost. The purchasing function is embedded in Centex’s project delivery process to bring stability, efficiency, and cost control to interior procurement.

Duties and Responsibilities
Standardize pricing, streamline purchasing processes, and improve project margins across all interior renovation projects.
Ensure materials procurement is handled efficiently for all interior projects, supporting project managers (PMs) and maintaining consistency in purchasing practices nationwide.
Maintain uniform pricing for key interior components across projects, keep renovations on schedule through timely ordering, and find cost-saving opportunities to boost project margins.
Work within Centex’s new ERP system (NetSuite) to integrate and track purchasing data, and communicate new supplier options or pricing updates to regional directors, estimators, and PMs.
Analyze spending patterns to reduce redundant vendors and inform better purchasing decisions.
Coordinate all material orders for interior jobs, working closely with vendors and suppliers.
Maintain strong vendor relationships and seek cost efficiencies.
Identify suitable alternative products and obtaining necessary approvals for substitutions.
Coordination with Project Managers to align procurement with construction schedules.
Inventory Tracking & PO Log Management
Qualifications and Skills To effectively perform the above duties, an ideal candidate would possess a blend of procurement experience, construction materials knowledge, technical skills with relevant systems, and strong interpersonal abilities. Key qualifications and skills include:
Proven experience in purchasing or supply chain roles (ideally 3+ years or more) is expected. The candidate should be familiar with end-to-end procurement processes – from issuing POs and managing vendor quotes to tracking deliveries and handling invoices.
Experience in the construction or interior renovation industry is highly valuable, as it means understanding the typical materials and subcontractors involved.
Deep product knowledge relevant to interior renovation is required
Vendor management & negotiation skills
Adept at collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams
Attention to detail and organizational skills
Analytical ability in reviewing spreadsheets (e.g., cost matrices and budget vs. actual reports) and drawing insights from data
Tech proficiency (ERP, project software, communication tools)
