Position Description Operates as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Provides technical support in researching and commercializing technologies, processing, and materials that provide the organization with a competitive edge in cost and product through focused, value-adding activity.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist the organization in the development of specifications for capital equipment purchases and appropriate materials
Assist in the development of L.O.I.’s in processing and quality procedures
Assist the organization in problem solving of product and process situations
Represent the company to trade organizations and supply chain on product and process development
Assist Sales and Marketing in the development of new products and expanding sales
Participate and lead Innovation Team in the development process
Model and coach leadership for effective team building
Teach and educate (develop) associates
Key Performance Metrics
Resolution of operational impediments
Commercialization of processes and / or products
Effective capital equipment purchases
Cost effective scoping of levers associated with materials and equipment configuration, maximizing ROA
Key Areas for Backup
Product and process knowledge
Supply chain relationships (particularly Sun Chemical and Superior)
Financial Statement understanding and application to current/future state of the organization
Multiple areas of “trouble-shooting”
Innovation (product & process)
Team building
Associate development
Education/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
Proven experience in Continuous Improvement within a manufacturing or operations environment
Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and increased efficiency
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change initiatives
Strong communication and project management skills
