
JOB DESCRIPTION
Local News Photographer
WCVB, Boston's market-leading ABC affiliate, has an opening for a photojournalist. We are looking for a photographer/editor/truck operator with the ability to capture the essence of what is happening in the field and deliver it to our digital and linear audiences. You will spend several hours each day out in the field shooting, editing, and executing creative live shots. You must be up to date on the modern aspects of our medium and have an excellent eye for video. You will work well with others, always positively representing our station with the highest journalistic standards and professionalism on display. This position is part of the IBEW union and you will work with and report to the News Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
Shoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs, and packages for linear and digital platforms
Execute well-lit and creative live shots
Work with the assignment desk, reporters, producers, and the web team to cover daily stories
Shoot on assigned professional ENG camera equipment
Edit in Adobe Premiere and use ENG, SNG, and wireless data to feed completed work to the station
Work with reporters and the assignment desk to ensure we're gathering impactful content
Work closely with reporters and producers to turn their creative vision into compelling video and sound
Use catalog systems to save/store, record, and locate necessary video
Produce and publish content to our online platforms
Be highly organized and attentive to gear and equipment maintenance
Requirements
Training in the art of video photojournalism
Professional or college experience in a news environment
Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
Experience with ENG live vans
Can work in all weather conditionsHave a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Computer and software experience; knowledge of Adobe Premiere in particular
Can organize, prioritize, and make deadlines
Ability to take initiative, work collaboratively, and communicate proactively
Have and exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
Can deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production
Related military experience will be considered

Salary The estimated base salary range for this role is between $76,411.92-$106,778.82. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, including geographic location where the work will be performed, and other factors permitted by law. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
