Lead Product Designer, Slack Productivity
Slack, San Francisco, California, United States, 94199
Overview of the Role
Slack is where work happens. Our Productivity team builds the tools people use every day to plan, think, meet, and get work done — right inside Slack. We’re looking for a
Lead Product Designer
to help grow and improve Slack’s native productivity tools like
Canvas, Lists, Files, Huddles, Email, and Calendar . In this role, you’ll shape how these tools work together to create
context-powered productivity experiences — making work feel simpler, faster, and more connected. You’ll lead design for one or more key areas, work closely with Product and Engineering partners, and help set direction across the Productivity pillar. This is a hands-on design role with big impact.
Responsibilities Day to day, you will:
Lead design for complex, high-impact productivity features
Turn fuzzy problems into clear, simple solutions
Partner closely with Product and Engineering to shape strategy and execution
Create flows, prototypes, and high-quality designs using Slack’s design system
Give clear feedback and raise the bar for craft across the team
Over time, you will:
Help shape the product vision for Slack’s productivity tools
Connect experiences across tools so they feel seamless
Influence decisions beyond your immediate team
Improve how design works across the pillar
Your impact:
Better clarity, flow, and focus for people doing work in Slack
Stronger, more connected productivity experiences
Higher design quality across the Productivity pillar
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in product design for desktop or mobile
A strong portfolio showing end-to-end design thinking and craft
Experience leading design on complex or unclear problems
Deep understanding of UX, interaction design, visual design, and motion design
Experience working closely with Product and Engineering partners
Ability to explain your ideas clearly and influence decisions
Experience designing systems that scale to many users
Strong attention to quality, accessibility, and detail
Proven experience using AI in the design process to inform decisions, accelerate iteration, and deliver stronger design outcomes
Preferred Qualifications Nice to have, but not required:
Experience designing productivity, collaboration, or enterprise tools
Familiarity with design systems at scale
Interest in how AI can improve everyday work
