Position Summary The Assistant Superintendent will assist in the management of golf course maintenance and operations, spray applications, irrigation, and team development. This position reports to the Superintendent.

The individual we are seeking needs to be hard working, self-driven, and a highly motivated person. This is a hands-on position that requires hard work and dedication to advancing your career. The job requires the individual to obtain a Texas pesticide applicators license within 3-6 months of employment. Excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate looking to get a foot in the door at a great private club. Upward advancement/promotion available.

Qualifications

Degree, or completing a degree in turf management or related field.

Knowledge of the proper spraying techniques required for the maintenance of the golf course.

Knowledge base of general business publications, professional publications, etc.

Experience or potential to learn how to operate the necessary equipment required for the maintenance of the golf courses and grounds.

Have or obtain within 6 months a Texas state pesticide applicators license.

Show a strong interest in self-improvement by joining professional organizations as well as participating in continuing education or training opportunities such as seminars, trade shows, etc.

Entry level computer skills.

Physical Demands

Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis.

Have the ability to lift 10-50 pounds occasionally.

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts (and associated noise levels related to) and outside weather conditions.

Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.

Essential Functions

Accountable for daily updating of course details and work progress spreadsheets

Active role in monitoring of daily staff assignments versus course standards

Course set-up, cutting hole locations, managing teeing areas, detail work

Spraying Application required for the maintenance of the golf courses and grounds

Wilt-watching, bentgrass greens management

Irrigation repair and maintenance

Assist in routine maintenance work such as, walk mowing, bunkers, trimming, etc.
