About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our growing Design Services team in the Suwanee ECC office. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of mechanical designing experience within the construction or AEC industry and will support the design, coordination, and execution of mechanical systems across a variety of projects.

In this role, the Mechanical Designer is responsible for the design and review of mechanical systems, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems, while providing technical engineering support to Project Managers. This position also assists with project controls activities, including cost, scheduling, and estimating support, to ensure successful project delivery from design through construction.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and review mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping, in accordance with project requirements, codes, and industry standards

Prepare and review mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents

Provide technical engineering support and coordination to Project Managers and project teams

Assist with project controls activities, including cost analysis, scheduling coordination, and estimating support

Perform site observations to verify design intent and construction progress

Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs; support construction administration activities

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including architectural, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines

Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM tools to produce and coordinate mechanical designs

Ensure constructability, quality, and compliance throughout all phases of the project

Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university

3–5 years of related mechanical design experience, preferably within the construction or AEC industry

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required

Professional Engineer (PE) license required

Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM-based design tools

Strong ability to read, interpret, and prepare construction drawings and technical specifications

Experience performing site observations and supporting construction administration

Working knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, standards, and industry best practices
